I've seen that some Arcade roms ends in certain letters that indicates where they originated from. For example:
ffightj = Final Fight Japan
captcommu = Captain Commando USA
But I've seen some roms ending in "o" or "g" among other letters and I don't know what they mean. Can someone give me a list explaining what each letter stands for?
Okay, I admit that was a rather complicated question so seems like nobody knows the answer. Let me try to be more specific:
I'm playing a game here called "Sega Ninja" on MAME and it has several clones:
1) Sega Ninja (315-5102) - ROM: seganinj
2) Ninja (315-5102) - ROM: ninja
3) Ninja Princess (315-5051, 64k Ver. bootleg?) - ROM: nprinces
4) Ninja Princess (315-5051?, 128k Ver. bootleg?) - ROM: nprincesb
5) Ninja Princess (315-5098, 128k Ver.) - ROM: nprinceso
6) Ninja Princess (64k Ver. not encrypted) - ROM: nprincesu
7) Sega Ninja (not encrypted) - ROM: seganinju
I went to the Wikipedia article of the game, and it said that it was released in Japan first as "Ninja Princess" but the problem is, which one of the "Ninja Princess" versions is the actual, original one?
