Sound glitches in pSX with Crash Team Racing

Whenever I play Crash Team Racing on pSX, the sound gets glitchy on the second map.

From what I've seen so far the second map is the only map of the game to have this problem. When running it on the ePSXe emulator it works fine. Yes, I could just use ePSXe but I prefer to use pSX as ePSXE likes to make games look much better than they actually do. I like to use pSX because it looks more like it would me playing it on the original console.

I've tried fiddling with some sound options although I'm sure there's more I can do. I'm just hoping to see if anyone can point me in the right direction or if I'm just screwed and forced to use ePSXe.

Crash Team Racing is not the only game to have sound glitches. In the original Crash Bandicoot, certain songs with Drum Beats would play glitched sounds instead, particularly the Papu Papu fight. The drums would instead make sounds similar to the glitched ones in the video. I unfortunately don't have video proof :( I just want people to know that it's more a problem with my computer or the emulator and not the games themselves (in case someone was wondering)

Its most likely your sound is at 10000Hz or lower. Try increasing it. If that doesn't work, then it probably your sound system that needs fixing.

EDIT: Put pSX sound settings in default. That might fix some sound problems up.

According to the compatability list, this is a documented problem with no known fix. Your only option right now is to use ePSXe. Hopefully someone can help you with your graphics, er, problem.

Thanks for the replies, I'm getting a disc of this game soon anyway which I'll play on my PS2 so until then I'll just stick with ePSXe

If you want to make ePSXe simple then just use PEOpS soft video plugin

If you want to filter it then use one of the HQ filters stretched (I do recommend though that you set the res in multiples of 320x240, so for example if you use a HQ2x filter then set the res to 640x480 or for HQ3x set the res to 860x720 ect ect...)
