Default What´s wrong? Can´t play anything on Dolphin

I have a desktop with the following description:

    Windows XP Professiona
    P 216
    BIOS: Defualt System BIOS
    Processor:intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66 ghz
    Memory: 512 mb ram
545 MB used, 704 MB free
    Directx: Directx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0104)

I Downloaded the following versions of Dolphin:
    3.5-x86
    3.5-x64
    3.5-477x64
    3 0 201
    win-x86-v3.5-367

    I also updated my Diectx
The problem is I just cant play any games. After I open Dolphin and browse for a game and select it, NOTHING HAPPENS. I know I must be doing something wrong, but I couldn´t find any way to solve this. I read somewhere I should change to Windows 7. Is that the only answer? I´ll desperately wait for anybody´s wise advise, since I have no experience in this issue. Thanks very much in advance!

I know it sounds daft, but did you double click on the game in the Dolphin game list?

Yes, I double clicked the game. What do you mean "the dolphin game list"? I searched for the games cliking on "file" and also on "browse" (the star icon) and get the same results on both.

Are the games extracted iso and gcm format as they should be

P.S. your system is very much under par for GameCube and Wii emulation anyway

Not checked but not so sure if Dolphin even supports Direct X 9

And for Windows 7 you will need a lot more ram than what you currently have just to run the OS smoothly, still not a bad machine just not good enough for Wii and GameCube emulation (get some more ram in it regardless 2GB should be a min 512MB is just not enough then go for Windows 7 (maybe as a dual boot if you like just to take advantage of Direct X 10/11)) [that will still not let you play GC or Wii at full speed mind but you will get better results]

My advice would be to buy a Wii (preferably with GC compat) and hack the thing with the ever popular software mods that let you play games from a USB Hard Disc Drive

Just a quick question. Is 512mb your system ram or vidcard ram?

    And dx9 will work.

But either way with your specs don't expect much.

Thanks, Zorlon, for your reply. Anyway, concerning this you said:

"Are the games extracted iso and gcm format as they should be"

I honestly don´t know how to do it. (didn´t know I had to). So that might be my problem. If you or anybody can give me some orientation on this, or give a link to some other post, that would be great. I understand I´ll have to get more ram into this, but I have to get the games extracted properly anyway. Forgive my ignorance

even when you do they will not run very well even with a ram update

anyway read http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?51257 it's not my guide but it will help on how to extract

myself I use 7-zip to extract my files but each to there own, if you do get winrar make sure ISO is not associated with it (I do have and use WinRAR aswell but mostly for mass compressing I have not needed to use it for extracting for years now)
