I've noticed this in every SS/PS multi-plat. The image appears stretched on PS... or is it compressed on SS? Which one is accurate?

by "accurate" do you mean according to what you said or by emulation standards?

You mean in terms of true aspect ratio? Check the dimensions of the screens you have. I'm going to guess the Playstation version, since the native resolution for Saturn was a bit weird. Don't get me wrong, though. I love the Saturn, but the Playstation was so damned good in comparison.

i'd say they are both different, look at the avatar on both of them, its square on both (although it looks rectangular on the saturn side) it would BE rectangular had it been stretched

If it's 4:3 that's how it was shown in the television, even if the gpu outputted a different ratio it would be stretched to 4:3 on television. At least that's how it was on SNES afaik.

Good point. I just noticed in SSF there's an option to enforce aspect ratio - when you disable it the screen looks similar to PS.

Personly I always force 4:3 Aspect for ye olde game systems

320x240 = 4:3 - 640x480 = 4:3 - 960x720 = 4:3 - and so on, sticking to multiples of 320x240 is a good idea as most games used multiples of that... they will of been stretched via the TV anyway but kept in that 4:3 ratio rule

TV's also used a border aswell on the top and bottom

Saturn to PSX though the Saturn didn't have use transparent colour so used a checkard type of transparency instead, overall not as nice looking (or in this case was just solid)
