    Default Help with DC ISOs?

    Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been answered before.

So, if a DC image is too big to fit on a CD, how should I burn it? Like, can I rip parts out, or what? Am I limited to emulation?

Pretty much every game was already ripped to run from 80 minute CD-Rs. There are only a rare few exceptions, like D2 (which requires 5x99 minute discs) or some Japanese only text-based games that are rubbish anyway...

I downloaded the Dreamcast torrent with all the NTSC games. Most of them are over 704MB, so they won't fit.

Yes they will. IIRC DiscJuggler trial doesn't let you burn images >700MB, so you'll have to use ImgBurn/Alcohol 120%.

Dreamcast games go off minutes, every game will be like 79:56 out of the 80 minutes per CD-R.

Shocked at the responce from Inferno, yes it does report that but it still lets you burn 704MB images and over, I know that sounds odd but it does (overburn may be needed though) it wont let you burn those 99min CD games though, not even the full version will, basicly the demo limits you to CD sized burns. also the image size does not always, infact hardly ever reflect the same amount of space used up on a CD, the image sizes are normally a little larger than the actual disc space used

I will say that ImgBurn shoul.d do the trick though providing you have the cdi/discjuggler support files for ImgBurn, for more info read this

I will recomend ImgBurn, it is both free and there are no messy setting that need changing, just make sure you have the DJ support files and burn those Dreamcast cdi images

You have to extract the disc image from the .rar file with winrar first. After extraction you should have an image file, usually a .cdi. Burn the .cdi to disc with discjuggler, or with imgburn and the DJ support files as stated in Zorlon's post above.

you have to extract it using either WinRar or 7zip before burning it

Don' worry, it won't hurt... that much!

It's just compressed, use winrar or 7-zip (i use mostly 7-zip) I can't find winrar on the mainpage so here's a link for 7-zip just install and unzip then you can burn

Doesn't the game have to be a selfboot? Maybe that's what he means.

Doubt it, since he already said it was still in the .rar file when he burned it

But he might still want to post the extension of the extracted file, just to be sure it is a selfboot...

Don' worry, it won't hurt... that much!

Ok, so I used winrar to extract the file and it was extracted into 5 or 6 smaller winrar.rar files in a different folder am I doing something wrong? I've tried several time but the file isn't converting to .cdi

Just extract the FIRST .rar file youve got in the folder.
That should give you your .cdi
