Theres this MAME game, right, a shoot-em-up it is, that I can never remember. Anyway, I remember it having this excellent Techno music that really got the adrenaline going in the big boss battles. Fuck knows what its called though, but pretty popular I believe.

Technically theres better music out there especially in the field of RPG's, but personally after hearing battle music a thousabd times over in such a game I become a bit blasé about it.

Seiken Densetsu 3, for being just real good. Nothing else here compares. AND, no normal RPG has good battle music, it all becomes a pain after a while, unless you listen to pop, in which case it's pretty much the same thing.

And anything Shin Megami Tensei! Heroic Battle, Battle For Survival and Divine Identity from Digital Devil Saga 2 are great!

Agreed, FF IX was my favorite Final Fantasy on the PSX (I haven't really played FF VII that much so that could change once I try to play it.)
