FF9 disc change problem

hi

iv just completed disc one of ff9 and i cannot get epsxe to change discs properly

iv attached the memcard that the save is on so could someone just change to disc 2 and then reattach it or if you can just attach the save state the moment u change successfully

Is it NTSC USA version? If it is, I can do it for you, because for me it worked without problems: when it said to insert disc 2, I pressed Esc, selected Change Disc from ePSXe's menu and loaded the next image, worked.

i think i know why!!!

i converted the cd's of disc 2,3 and 4 but had to download disc 1 because it was scratched...

the downloaded one is ntsc but discs 2,3 and 4 are PAL...

can you give me a step by step guide on how to patch to ntsc?

your probably out of luck. There is a good chance that the US version and PAl versions saves are incompatible. Your best bet is to find the US versions of discs 2-4. It works out better this way anyway because the PAL version of FF9 is much buggier when emulated due to its use of subchannels which is probably the reason its not working for you.

I have the same problem as avenger420.When I change to the second disc the screen remains black.Also when I tried to mount the image of the second disc with Deamon Tools all worked fine until I tried to open one of the folders on the created virtual drive ,and I got an "Incorrect function "message .It`s the US NTSC version .All the other discs seem to work fine.

I can convert the memcard to PAL for you so it will work on the PAL cd 2 and will automaticly work on CD 3 and 4 after seen as they are PAL aswell.

Anyway I done that so just let me know if it's working ok or not

Well play through disc 2 I'll convert the next one for you if you can't find a copy of the US version of the rest of the CD's, it doesn't take alot of time to do, though a lil on the complicated side.

Edit actually I know it works I just tested it out on my original CD3 of FFIX

What might not though is the actual ISO in ePSXe because it needs patching or a patch named correctly and put in the patches folder, personly I opt for the patches folder thing.

the correct patch name for CD3 is SLES_229.65 and CD 4 is SLES_329.65

You can get the patches from here

The patch files are
HLG-FF93.PPF for CD3, rename that to SLES_229.65
HLG-FF94.PPF for CD4, rename that to SLES_329.65
Now put those in the patches folder

CD1 would be named SLES_029.65
CD2 would be named SLES_129.65

I only included that info so you don't get confused by the names
