Hacking Nes Roms

Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a way to hack NES Roms? I want to edit the dialog text for english language roms.

It's for a project I'm working on.
Suggestions?

You can use hex editors to do stuff like that. Some might be available here but I know there are various utilities on Zophar's Domain (just an example).

www.romhacking.net is a great place to look

translating a rom is not that easy even for a lot of NES games though, if you are lucky the text will be stored in a simple way and you may be able to just use hex along with a table file but even then you will need to make sure the text will actually fit if you have no way to expand the rom

you may be in luck though if romhacking happens to have tools for translating certain roms, but if it is a game that would require more hacking and there is no tools to do that you will need to figure all that out on your own that requires a bit of reverse engineering that most of us would not have a clue about
