DS Roms - Black Screen

Problem is that some games get a white/black screen depending on the game when I load them. I’m assuming that they froze due some sort of reason.

Games such as:
Kingdom Hearts358/2 Days
Alice in Wonderland
Mario & Luigi Bowser’s Inside Story
Art Academy
Golden Sun
Final Fantasy the 4 Hero of Light
Mario Vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem
Dragon Quest IX
Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
all get black or white screen when I try to load them.

I don’t know much about technical issues with DS since I’m doing this for a friend so I haven’t read up on much about what could be wrong, and she is leaving in a couple of days so I was hoping to get a couple of quick replies.

What I think might be the problem is bad rom so I’ve been trying to find roms at different sources to see if they will work, they are downloading in the process as I type this. Another thing I noticed is that these games are somewhat still new so I think they don’t work with either the R4i or needs like a patch or something correct me if I’m wrong.

edit: hmm I don't think its due to the newer games because I got 999 9Hours, 9Person, 9Doors to work. But still that list contains a lot of the more recent games.

So if someone knows something to fix this, or why this is happening please let me know. I’m more of a PSP and PS3 kind of guy so I’m clueless to the DS world.

Maybe you should try update the kernel in your R4 site: maybe this??

Just look on your R4 box or in the sticker on the cartridge to see if there is a homepage written on it.

I solved my problems formatting over and over my card with SD formatter v2.0 and putting my latest kernel on the root. But I think it was too easy! but mine is another problem I bought a crappy one! Right now I'm getting Golden Sun to see if mine works.

edit: Golden Sun and all games are working perfectly! You should try the same as me!

hey. i've actually been trying to play Dragon Quest IX: sentinels of the starry skies, and it keeps crashing after the first battle, sometimes even before! i'm using no$gba, and it says "error- crash fatal" or something like that. is there anything i can do to fix this?

alot of people are having trouble with this. it happened to me too until i switched to the most updated version of no$gba

I must concur; update, update, update. Nothing hurts like outdated firmware.
