Default Makaron - new DC Emu

After several months of news and updates being posted by the author of this emulator on his blog, he finally released a WIP beta of it.

Since it is a first release, and a beta at that, expect bugs and missing features. Some games are sure to be playable though.

Go here to download Makaron Test 8 WIP:

And here's the blog--has screenshots, and although most of the text is in Polish, he added some brief summaries that are in English:

And although he recommends a Core 2 Duo, the actual requirements are probably comparable to those for ChanKast and NullDC.

Nice. I'm going to give this a whirl. I'll let you know how it goes for me.

Edit: X/Y axis and POV refuses to map to my keyboard/joypad. And I cannot navigate past the first bios menu. So yeah, totally useless to me atm.

You have to edit the GDROM.ini file, putting in the path and name of your .cdi file.

Here's an example of what you have to put in there:
    image = C:\#TEST\jetgrind.cdi

But even then, I only get a white screen with no sound after the DreamCast logo.

Maybe it's because those .cdi files were made by an older/newer version of DiscJuggler?
Or they were bin files made self-bootable and converted to cdi?

That didn't help me at all

Does it not support virtual/CD drives?

    No, actually it doesn't (yet).

Instead, it allows you to load either a .cdi or .gdi from your HD.

You just need to edit the GDROM.ini to add the path and filename for the folder containing the image file.

    Hmm okay.

But that still doesn't help me with navigating the BIOS menu so that I can actually PLAY a game.

When you configure the GDROM.ini file, it doesn't bring up the BIOS menu.

First you get the DC logo, then you get a white screen.

Btw, I asked the author about the white screen.
    Here's his reply:

Make sure you have correct time & date settings in the Dreamcast BIOS. This is very important. If it keeps asking you to set those every time you run Makaron it's not good.
To enter BIOS do not set any game images, or set an unbootable one. There is one BIOS I'm aware of that will freeze anyway - you can trick it by setting a GDI image and wrong region so it will not boot.
Follow the procedure in ReadMe.txt file. With sepearate FLASH files you'll need to do that for each region of course

Ahh right, sorry for my stupidity.

And what I have to say about this emulator is: I'll wait for the next release of it =P
