Yeah, you can queue up actions automatically and prioritise them in whichever order you want, e.g:
-If ally is knocked out use Phoenix Down to revive
-Otherwise, if any ally has less than 50% HP use a potion
-Otherwise, attack whichever enemy the party leader is targeting
And so on. It's ridiculously useful the further you get into the game.

Oh no, I totally understood. The battle system is usually the first thing that comes to mind whenever anyone mentions XII because it's such a departure from the previous games. Which unfortunately is also the main reason everyone seems to hate it.
