I took a lighter to the back because part of the melted pen stuck into the grooves of the screw, and I couldn't get them out, so I thought I could melt the pen cap, only to make the back of the cartridge even worse (I wasn't thinking, OK?). I couldn't get the game apart because of it, so I slammed it onto my kitchen floor a few times until it broke apart. Unfortunately, that caused a couple pieces of the shell to break off, so I couldn't put it back together anyway, burnt back or not. Then I just said 'fuck it' and took a lighter to the shells and smashed them with a meat tenderizer, to avoid the temptation of digging it back out of the trash in regret, knowing me, even though I knew it was beyond repair, and I didn't think GameStop or Vintage Stock or whoever would take it with a burnt back. They might have and could've replaced it, but oh well. It's too late now.

And yes, I broke one of my first Gamecube controllers once playing Super Smash Brothers Melee... Let's just say those last few Event matches were a pain in the ass!

Meh, I don't know if ours over here does or not. I haven't been there in such a long time. I know Vintage Stock does, and I already have a bag of stuff I'm going to take there, (either for cash or store credit, depending how much it's all worth), for the next time I go. I haven't been able to go since early January this year due to money issues at the moment.

Pretty sure the US Gamestop indeed takes all sorts of retro shit in, perhaps they only hand out a penny. Anyways, the retro stuff they don't carry in stores gets shoved to their warehouse and sold on their site. So when tools call them up and ask if they have Battletoads, they say yes:

Does EB Canada take older stuff?
Wii and NDS games here, but afaik they won't give you much even for titles worth something. 360/PS3 aren't worth anything either, mostly.

Well they still have some on the shelves, but they've been trying to clearance it for a year or 3. So I imagine they'll give basically nothing even for something decent. I think I heard the TiVs for 3DS games are already getting terrible, like they dropped to giving the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition down to $8 (although this probably means they sell it for $20 or something, if somebody is dumb enough to trade it in).

ECM and 7-zip, there is a txt file explaining how to unecm and there is am unecm app for Android so there's no reason not to use ECM for 2 disc games since you can get 1gb+ total into ~500mb compressed. They can unecm on PC and mobile now, the Android app is new.
