Default Having difficulty with SEGA CD emulation.

I've recently downloaded and unpacked the Sonic CD ISO, but when I played it, most of the music was missing. I've had this problem with Final Fight CD in the past, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I'm doing anything wrong, or if the problem is with the ISOs.

    Hi.

Can you specify the emulator and what ISO version of Sonic CD it is? Is it PAL (E) or NTSC (U or J)?

I'm using GENS, and the European version of Sonic CD. Since my first post, I've also tried the US version of Fatal Fury Special and had the same problem, if that helps.

Okay, I had the same problem as well.

So, the only songs that play in Sonic CD are the ones on the "past" levels, right?
Are the songs in .ape format or .wav? If they are, you have to convert them to mp3 so the emulator can read it.

I used the "gens v11a" emulator, but any Gens that reads Sega CD ISOs is fine too.

Oh, another thing, are you loading the game by clicking the .cue file that comes with the ISO, or the ISO itself?
Because even with the right settings, opening the game by clicking the .cue file did not allow me to have music at all.

These are all the files I have for the game. I'm only able to load the game itself by selecting track 1. With Fatal Fury Special, I only have the .bin and image files, so I'm not sure how I'd go about converting those.

Strange, I do not recall having those .BIN files, although they are definitely the soundtrack.
I say this because the Sonic CD hosted on this site has .ape files, and not .bin...
I would try to convert the .bin files or try to download the soundtrack as .mp3, put them in the folder and rename the mp3 files to match the .bin names.

Yeah That does not look Right with .bin Files. I have Music Files(.wav or .mp3) and then load the .cue file in Kega Fusion

this is going to be a pain in the back side I know but you need to rename all of the *.bin files to *.wav, but you also need to rename every sound file so it contains the same file name as the iso file then a space then 02.wav for the first sound file 03.wav for the second one and so on

    should look like:-
Sonic CD (Europe).iso (the actual CD image)
    Sonic CD (Europe) 02.wav
    Sonic CD (Europe) 03.wav
    /ect... ect.../
    Sonic CD (Europe) 34.wav
    Sonic CD (Europe) 35.wav

http://www.epforums.org/showthread.p...ith-Gens-Guide has a good guide for emulating CD games in Gens or Fusion (the same rules apply for both Gens and Fusion for naming your CD games and the basic setup of the emulator/s)

P.S. if you want to know what is the beter emulator... well they are both great but Fusion does support more games including Sega/Mega CD-32X games that Gens has no support for, not that there are many CD-32X games anyway lol
