Not to be a barer of bad news SegNin but have those downloads been updated becasue I've downloaded corrupted copies of FF7 and 9 from there. I haven't tried 8 so I can't say anything about it.

    I don't believe FF8 was ever corrupt.

In any case, they do work at least.

Are you sure you checked the .bin file? Your disc is way different from what psxdb.com has.

yea, i did. I even tried 2 ways of making the .bin file.

    1. I used ISO buster to make it, i right click on "CD" and chose "extract image as .bin file".

    2. I also tried using Ultra ISO to make a .bin file too.

Is the disc entry I posted the link for the same version and disc that you have?

wat do u mean is the the same version as my disc?

The MD5, SHA1 and CRC32 codes are all different than my one, but i don't get wat i mean by the word "versions". I assume there're different version of FF8? Maybe like NTSC or PAL or maybe different country e.g. USA or EU?

From what i can tell by looking at my disc, it shows this:

    SCES-02080 ANZ-P

also it says the word "Platinum" and is PAL.

Also i've tried using PSEmu PRO and PSXeven just then, i downloaded the newest versions and got them all setup, i tried testing both the emulators on FF9 which works without any problem and then i tried the ISO file and the CD and the .bin file and they won't work.

Just to let u know i have the BIOS SCPH-1001 and SCPH-7502, i tried switching both of them but don't work.

You don't have the US version, you have the European one.

And that one needs to be patched or it won't work in any emulator.

You can get the patches from here, but I'm not sure which one (if any) will work for your Platinum version--try using the patch for your language (my guess UK PAL):
    http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches_f.shtml

    Patching Instructions:
    http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches.shtml

    OR

You could just download our NTSC-US copy which doesn't need to be patched and is guaranteed to work in a correctly configured PSX emulator:
    http://www.emuparadise.org/roms/psx/

    Your choice.

Yes, you need to patch it.

    Read my previous post again.

I added to it, after I finally managed to get the edit to save (stupid FireFox 2.0 update seems to have screwed something up)

    Copy protection.

A lot of PAL games need to be patched for that reason, so keep MegaGames bookmarked/in your favorites in case you need to patch another PAL game.

    And your welcome.

Actually I think that all the PAL Final Fantasy games had Libcrypt protection on them so if you just rip your disc with the subcode by doing either a CloneCD (ccd/img/sub) or Alcohol (mds/mdf) image dump of it then it should work without patching. Libcrypt stores it's special code in the subchannel of the disc and if the code is not verified when it reads it then the game will freeze which is probably what is happening in pSX since it is made to emulate the PlayStation as accurately as possible right down to the exact processor and memory calls that the real system runs.
