As long as I don't fuck up installing the modchip, or changing the case, I should be fine. Gamecube Linux is documented well enough, and the rest is just me finding and buying items that already came out for the gamecube.(check out the wiki.) Of course, unless I do something, the battery life is going to be like, 3-4 hours, unless I find a way to fix that.

the cube should be able to run on your standard dell 12v laptop battery if you are a master at soldering, and with a lower speed setting on the cpu, it should get 6 hours easy, and it should recharge a full battery in a quarter of that time...
you will still need to be a master of wiring...
Also. Linux runs like shit on Xbox, I assume it's going to be worse on 'Cube. Considering it's considerably less powerful, than Xbox.
