DVD Decrypter or Alcohol 120%. The best way to ensure that your discs will be readable on any DVD reading device is to use a drive that can book type and set the book type to DVD-ROM for +R and +RW DVD media. +R is most compatible as is but book typing +RW discs to DVD-ROM allows them to be read on devices that normally don't read +RW discs. -R and -RW discs can't be book typed unfortunately. This is none of the major differences between + and - media.

My grandmother has an old DVD Player that can only read DVD-ROM discs but I have also been able to run burned DVDs by book typing them to DVD-ROM so the player treats them like DVD-ROMs and plays them while all other discs that I have burned normally it rejects. The PS2 can also be very picky prefering +Rs over -Rs and skipping badly with -R discs that I have burned DVD movies on to and refusing to read any RW discs although any modded system is capable of reading any type of disc without any problems.
