Question Some questions about... paranormal experiences... and stuff.

    Good evening.

The title, well, is because that... as of late, many people I know have approached me thinking I have all the answers when I don't.

Most of them end up talking to me about ghosts and restless spirits and such things, or strange events they cannot explain and fear of telling about, because they fear that people would consider them mad or crazy.

They are concerned that there are things in their houses... they feel things floating around their beds, voices whispering and such things.

Sometimes they can feel a strange breeze on them with windows closed and no fan or air conditioners in their room. Some strange presence that won't let them sleep. Or some sort of a "green mist" over them.

Others feel a strange gust of hot wind coming from empty rooms. I have experienced this, and please, I am not paranoid... this hot wind coming out of my grandmothers house... it is terrifying to feel it in the middle of the night outside of the house.

I myself have had some strange experiences about waking up, seeing the world around me and feel that I am moving, but not beng able to do so. My body just lies there.. and I even see my family around me but I can't speak or move and it is very scary.

Or to feel someone is choking you in your sleep and when you open your eyes there is no one but you can swear that someone tried to kill you.

Or that sensation that you feel that you are being followed. I know, you may think I'm paranoid. Nope, that last one... I hear about it often. From a variety of people I meet and friends I know from a long time.

I know this will be considered a loss of time since this is an emulation forum but I wonder if you had these experiences too, since there are many intelligent posters here aside from the usual...

Now I am curious to know if any of you has had these experiences. ¿Can you tell me if you had any unexplainable experience you remember?

    I will miss you guys.

I've had a lot of weird experiences over the years (and I'm not exactly old, even by EP standards). Unexplainable ones though, that's a whole different ballpark.

There's two things at work here: The first is that the human brain ain't exactly perfect when it comes to interpreting sensory input, not to mention more than capable of faking the data. The second is that people tend to fall into a sort of confirmation bias: They already believe that something supernatural has happened (or will happen), so they go looking for evidence that fits the belief rather than evidence in general. None of this is to say that there couldn't be genuinely weird events happening, just that we as a species are pretty shit when it comes to investigating them.

General disclaimers aside, I've felt presences, had almost prophetic dreams and some usefully predictive deja vu. The only problem is that none of it is definite. I couldn't prove whether the deja vu was "unexplained" or just me observing a situation ran pretty well parallel to one I'd previously been in (I know which answer has more evidence for it, but absolute proof is for alcohol and maths). Ditto for the other occurences.

I think it most of what happens has to do with the human mind why? because what you dream off at night has everything to do with your everyday normal life taking an example of a child watching a scary movie or a paranormal program the child will be afraid and he wont sleep normally and begins to think about what he has seen and since he has seen it as it would look like in real life he begins to Imagen or dream of it in his sleep and it may causes him to be afraid ect...

Also as a normal human and from what you see from interacting with normal human life you get experience what the experience e.g. death and some people believe in there ghosts causing you to begin to think if they are any ghosts, also the human mind works be linking everyday life, you possibly have seen this somewhere from t.v. or something that test where someone shows you a word and you try to think of another word that has to do with that object e.g. I say Ireland and you will say leprechaun for some reason or another.

No. Ghosts are not real. Neither are ghoulies or zombies or revived mummies. Once something dies it sits in the ground and rots. The smart ones are cremated.

This would at least explain those two incidents. It's a fascinating phenomenon but there are a lot of people who suffer from it, probably more than you'd think.

South Park made fun of necrophilia.

I finished serial experiments lain (an anime) recently and some people were experiencing sleep paralysis in it even the main character girl. anyway it turns out it wasn't ghosts at all but an ALIEN in a green and red shirt! so really they should be more worried about aliens than ghosts.

I think everyone has, at least once in their life, an experience that they can't completely explain in what others would consider a "rational" explanation.

Me for example, I have some weird dreams that always end up to be true. Like when I was laying down sod next to my house as a child. I was twelve, and the whole time every image I focused on kept registering in my mind as "I've seen this before!". It made me believe, for awhile, that my dreams had shown me apart of my future.

The scientific explanation: memory is collective, not a single experience. You draw on different portions of your brain to remember an experience, so you can easily have a fake memory (some data gets screwed up in the process of retrieval).

In this case I'm behind science. I remember waking up the morning after I had the dream and thinking, trying as hard as I could to remember the dream in full detail. I couldn't. I remembered most of it (the clothes I was wearing, what I was doing), but I couldn't remember who was all there (I had counted 6 people, but not who they all were). Thats where suggestive thought took over right after I actually DID lay the sod. I instantly made the connection that the dream had shown me what was going on, who was there, what I and others were wearing. Only I know that the morning after I had the dream I put my face in my hands and tried to remember who was there!

So the dream wasn't an image of the future, just a misconstrued thought. This happens all the time to me, I could rant on and on about other dreams I had and came true and others I'm still waiting on. Some leave me puzzled all to hell as how I could have had a dream abut the future, but most turn out to be my brain playing a trick on me.

As for ghosts and "presences", I'm not quite sure what experiment this came from, but I remember seeing something on History International on the topic. In the end, 7 out of ten of the supposed "ghost" sightings were confirmed false. The sudden flash of warmth, and the sight of a spectral being, came from a bizarre flaw in a heating system, and a light shown through a prism at the right angle (that one was cool to see redone). Five other supposed paranormal experiences all had similar answers. Only three lacked any sort of rational explanation, even after those who had reported seeing the "ghosts" had taken a polygraph test and each had an MRI (which the results were negative for abnormalities). The researchers doing the experiment were baffled, but all came to the conclusion "with more funding, more personnel, more time and equipment, we could possibly break these wide open, we just don't have everything we need".

Yeah I heard about this, saw it on a show about alien abductions, they're saying that most of those abductions are just a part of a sleeping disorder.

Actually no. I can explain anything that happens to me. There are no ghosts.
