My CD-R's burn at a scary-fast speed. I thought someone was fucking up when I saw Nero report the burn at 48x speed. A full CD at 8 minutes.
At least my DVD player is still ultra slow. Full DVD takes about two hours.

My DVDRW drive burns at 16x, but I choose to use 4x.

My drive is around 2 years old now I think.
Emprex DVD+/-RW 16X. Still going strong.
I've got a 5 year old 32X CD-RW drive laying around too, it overburns onto 90 minute discs, so I'm not complaining.
And I have a 16X DVD-RAM drive somewhere, I don't use it.

Eh, it's somewhere around there. Just for burning at 48x it should take two minutes, but there's other stuff involved besides just writing the data to the disc, so it's probably a few minutes. *Shrug* I'm a patient person, 8 minutes doesn't bother me compared to 4. For the two hours for a DVD, I don't bother waiting around for it, I turn it on then leave it alone and come back some random time later.

I hate that version. I use 1.5.3beta, and I get 200-300KBps on average. I had the same problem with versions higher than 1.5.3. Jackhammer seems to have good luck with higher versions though...

Um...I also have 8 connections...why is your #4 Idle?

Mine is the same, only the first 3 connections dload, the rest are idle.

Spoiler warning:

It wasn't working so I switched to grabit 1.5.3.... and it can't download the newgroup listings from Verizon's server. GAH *starts pulling out hair*

Click on the news.verizon.net on the left, you should then be able to grab the listings.


Edit: Also the dload speed can vary from different isp's. I have a friend who can't get more than 50kbs.
