I'm just curious as to what the major differences are between XP MCE, and XP HE. I read some where that you'd have to actually upgrade to it, from XP Home, or Pro, and I'm wondering, why would anyone upgrade to it.

MCE came with my new computer, and honestly, aside from the ease of handling different MP3 players automatically, I don't really see a difference between it and XP Pro w/ SP2.
What do you mean by automatically handling different MP3 players? You mean auto-detecting them?![]()
Sort of. Instead of just opening it up as an external storage device, it can tell if the player supports music and video, and sets up different directories for each. So, if I try to put a video in the music folder, it won't let me. Kinda simplistic, but it keeps me from dropping in a video, only to have the player not find it.
That's about it though...
Does MCE take up more resources than HE and Pro?
I like Media Center, it's good for watching and recording live television (just like tivo). It's built into my copy of Vista.
I dunno, I guess, there's a program that works like Media Center, called Meedio. It works on XP, but it's not free.
Edit:
It's been renamed to MeediOS

Media Center is just windows XP Pro, with the media center application. It is not a completely different OS.
Yeah, um, good luck finding this application though.
