Well, she's 18. I don't know how old Polo is, because I never bothered to look, but if he's of age too, they really shouldn't have to do that.

Now with that having been said, sometimes it's best to diffuse a bad situation, and so regardless of whether or not he means it, it might be best to go that route.

I once had a girl whose dad was an avid gunman. He loaded his own ammunition in his basement, and had a shooting range. I had been dating his daughter for a month or so, and I went over to pick her up. He put his arm on my shoulder and said: "I just want to make sure you'll take good care of my daughter.
