Shit, I'm getting a video capturing card but I didn't knew they required DirectX9 compatibility and other stuff, now I'm scared because my integrated vid card is completely shitty, so I don't know if it's supported (the most recent thing I can play decently here is Warcraft 3, go figure. ) maybe this will crush my dreams of recording my Guitar Hero wonders!

Turned out it was a registry problem (invalid entries). I ran CCleaner, scanned for problems with the registry, removed all of them, and my sound returned.
