    Default Need some advice here

Ok, I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6217 laptop computer (got it a week ago), and I want to format the hdd to replace Vista with XP Pro. I'm a bit curious though, you see, my laptop has a built in fingerprint scanner which allows me to log into windows by simply swiping my finger over a bar. Would I have to download/install any extra drivers if I format to XP? Also, my battery life monitor, does XP come with one of these?

Yeah, I found most of the drivers off of Tohiba's site. Search under a p105-s9722 and you should be fine. Just categorize the things an see what you can use from windows xp and windows xp sp2. Oh, and for the finger print reader, I just went ahead and got their vista drivers and installed them on XP. The software and drivers work like a charm . The ethernet driver I found off of Intel's website. Here's the link.

It's a prettybig file but that's only because it contains all the drivers for intel's cards. It will only install the one needed.

This will fix your SM Bus

When I got my HP Pavillion a1730n, it came with Vista, which I replaced with XP Pro.

Afterwards there were several drivers that I had to find: graphics card, ethernet, sound card, etc.

I recommend that you find and save all the XP drivers you'll need for the hardware in your laptop before you install XP over Vista.

Yup, you install the drivers after you install XP.
I also recommend you make a system restore point before you install each driver, in case something goes wrong (especially graphics card drivers).
That way you can rollback your comp to that restore point.
