Thread: Files will not delete. Like, at all.

Default Files will not delete. Like, at all.

I have the entire Naruto series on my PC. From episodes 1 all the way to 220, which was the end of the fillers. I also have all 4 shippuuden episodes, the sports festival thing, and the two movies. Now, I'm trying to delete the regular episodes, but I can't. I tried clicking on the red X tab for deleting, and nothing happens. I right click on said items, delete, and nothing happens. I simply drag and drop said items to the trash bin, and nothing happens. I even went into fucking Safe Mode, and when I tried to get into the My Videos folder, it told me (I was logged in an Admin) that I don't have access to the folder. I tried using the Unlocker thing that polo showed me before, but it shows that none of it is being used by exporer.exe. So, I really don't know what to do at this point. It's all taking up a nice chunk of memory, and I'd really like to delete it. I have it all backed up. Any help?

Wow. I would suggest the unlocker and starting in safe mode, but now I can't since that doesn't work. Anyways, have you tried programs that are made specifically for this? (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html). That program helped me out. Try it, and just uninstall it when you are done. You should also try and shut down your antivirus program while deleting the files.

    404 File Not Found

I just saw the problem. There are a bunch of episodes that were two-in-ones. Meaning, two episodes in one actual movie file. There are a few of'em, and those are the ones that won't delete, or actually do anything else. I right click'em, and the only options it gives me is to play in a media player. Everything else, the single files, delete just fine. But those double episode files are incredibly wierd. This never happened before and I really want them gone now.

Since you can't get access to your My Videos file in safe mode, have you tried moving the movies to your desktop or a base C: directory or something?
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

The single episodes move, play, and delete normally. It's the double episodes that refuse to move, play, and delete. =\ Snkupo, that program. It doesn't work. I mean, when I right click the files, I still only see options to play in a media player, but no options for deletion.

Ok, I can think of a few experiments to try...
Download Virtual Dub, and see if you can open and edit the movie files in it. http://www.virtualdub.org/
Take one of those properly behaving videos, move it outside of your video folder, rename it to the name of a fucked up video, and then move it back in the video folder, overwriting the bad movie.

After installing, I believe you delete from that program, not by right clicking.

Wierd. I opened up VLC, loaded up one of the messed up files, and it said the name is invalid. Yet it won't allow me to rename it. The same thing in VirtualDub, and VirtualDubMod. I renamed another working video file after one of the messed up ones, and it still ran normally.

Edit: Snkupo, I launched it and it says the file name is invalid. It's a no go. =\

Edit: Oh lord, how lovely. I popped in the DVD where one of the messed up episodes was burned to, opened it up in VLC, and it was messed up. Seems when I burned it, something went wrong? And I didn't know about it. So now, I have to redownload and reburn those messed up episodes, and figure out how to get them off my PC!

Download Process Explorer, and see if you can use it to kill whatever process(es) is preventing you from deleting those files:

Thanks. There's nothing there that's actually preventing me from deleting the files. =\

Sometimes, files can not be deleted because of crazy filenames, but if they're just fansubbed anime, I don't think that's the case.. And Moveonboot does not work? This is really weird.
