What you don't realize is, this website message board is like a church. It is not about us being better than you, or anyone else. The other forums are to allow for Christian based discussions. Not a world view.

I think the issue here is that you seemingly place arbitrary limitations on anyone not considering themselves a Christian, going so far as to tell them where and how they can participate. Something that is not a very Christian thing to do.

You may counter that by suggesting that anyone having come to this board did so because they must share an interest in God or what have you, but perhaps some people show up still unsure as to what they believe, and they're looking for a good group of open-minded people to help them find faith. Something that cannot be achieved if you're going to shunt everyone into the corner who doesn't come to the board believing straight-away.

You're also suggesting, whether or not you mean to, that discussion is alright as long as you're a Christian, and if you're not, then any opinion you may have is simply a world-view, whatever that means. Not only is this ignorant of the fact that Christians have their own world-views (unless I'm mistaken by what you meant there...), but it goes on to suggest that the opinions of Christians are somehow worth more than someone who doesn't consider himself such.

Essentially it all boils down to this; It's okay to have an opinion, as long as you're part of the club. Debates are bad, because opinions other than ours are bad.

This message board is a ministry, not a debate message board. There are plenty of those out there already, if that is what you're looking for then you've come to the wrong place.

So then why bother discussing matters at all on this board? Is it expected that everyone have the exact same opinion, as some crazy measure of their faith?

Regardless of what you intended this board to be, it's a simple fact of life that people, be they Christian or otherwise, often have opinons that don't run parrallel with those of everyone else. So in suggesting that this place isn't a debate board, you imply that the only people welcome here are the ones who think exactly alike, and that anyone who doesn't fall in line can either stick to one little corner of the board, or bugger off. Again, not a very Christian mind-set.

Basically, it seems rather odd to me, even as a Christian, that you'd be willing to shun anyone who doesn't believe exactly what you believe, and that you would be so willing to suppress individual opinion, on that exact basis. I agree with him. It seems rather messed up.

Oh, I don't have any illusions that it'll change their minds. They strong arm people who don't believe the way they do, and suppress all individuality. If that doesn't get me banned, I'd be surprised.

Even so, I thought that it needed to be said just the same. Even if I do nothing more than plant the germ of an idea in his head that he's being something of an asshole, then I've done my job.
