Default Chrono Cross Recompile block too large

I was playing chrono cross when I needed to add some codes. I use Pete's D3D plugin, so I plugged in "all characters max str" (which was preloaded), and started epsxe 1.6.0 w/ -noauto. I've looked this all up, but when I add codes, it goes beserk. just crashes on startup. I've tried DX6 and opengl, and I get the same issue. I tried 1.5.2, same issue. I literally don't have the time to put up the specs, but I will when I get back from church. Any ideas of what to do?

EDIT: tried it again with the iso, not theburned CD, same issue. I have never had this issue, so I doubt its the image. I tried it with the image and got the error messege "Opcode 3f UNK (PC 0000e208)(365614,4)". I'll be back in about 3 hours to put the specs up. thx in advance.
