Indeed.
They never got to finish Windows 95 after 3 releases... I am still waiting for updates, damnit!!!

I will miss you guys.
HD-DVD's and Blu-Ray have a huge antipiracy method built into their basic premise- They're fucking 40-50 GB! If I erased every single thing besides windows off my computer, I could maybe fit one movie that would take me over a year to download. The DRM protection in Vista is a) completely unneccesary, b) Completely retarded in it's implimentation, and c) Completely useless, because the movies are already appearing on the internet according to that article. The entire OS is shot to hell on purpose for absolutely no worthwhile cause. It's like Don Quixote running at a windmill, but not just failing to meet any actual enemies, but running into the windmill, falling off his horse, and skewering himself on his lance while at the same time bumping some mechanical part of the windmill and making it work better and be more accepted by the community around it.

LOL, yeah, you got me there, but the point is, there is a major difference between the Beta (at least try the RCs) and RTM, it's silly to expect things to go 100% smooth in a Beta with Windows!
I think I got my wires crossed here, I usually just download the movie itself, not the image, I suppose you have a point, but you're forgetting that HDD space is really cheap mowadays, it's getting more and more common for people to have 1 TB (2x500 GB) even for home use, and you'll be surprised what people are willing to put up with to get something for free. And it's pretty safe to assume you're on dial up based on your sig![]()
I suppose I should mention I do have Vista installed on another partition, it's nice, I like the new look (you don't need Vista for that though), seems okay for now, but I do find myself switching to XP for now, simply because I'm used to it.
I've been reading about Vista a lot during the past week, and parts of that article, and your comments does worry me, I suppose only time will tell what happens, my main attraction to Vista is Dirext X 10, nothing else...
Even if I wasn't on dial up, 40-50 GB is a huge amount for anyone. On a connection that downloads at 1 MBps, it would take almost 17 hours, assuming you were at max download the entire time (far from the situation with bittorrent) to get a 2 hour movie that, even if you have a 500 GB hard drive take up a full tenth of your HD space.
Hollywood just ain't producing anything NEAR worth that.
That's completely ignoring monthly bandwidth limits, as well. Most people can't download that much in a month anyway, or their ISP will fine them and/or cut their connection speed.
In order for pirating HD movies to be a good idea for you, you've gotta have a fiberwire internet connection, a couple TB of harddrive space, the last thousand dollar video card, sound card, etc., a giant monitor (playing a HD movie on a 17" monitor is NOT worth it. You'll need something far more l33t), and an internet deal that doesn't limit your bandwidth usage.
At that point, you can easily afford to just buy the goddamn movies and play them in the PS3 you bought for a few thousand bucks off some chinese guy on Ebay. You won't want to wait for piracy when you can just drive down to the store and pick the movie up for a pittance.
Do you see my point about how useless all that crap is to prevent piracy that essentially prevents itself? Playing "premium content" will be an extremely shitty experience on Vista, it's far too much a pain in the ass to bother pirating premium content in the first place when SD versions are out there, and that premium content protection brings down the rest of the OS all for the sake of bullshit nobody will use in their computer anyway? They gained nothing at the cost of everything, and except people to just smile and eat it cause it's new and shiny and has DX10, and the sad thing is that most people will do it, and MS won't have to change a thing.

Honestly, I'm happy with Mac OS X 10.4. It can emulate pretty much anything. (Except for the DS) Since it has a Unix/Linux base, You have the whole open source and shareware community behind you, and it's pretty easy to get good software. And it also has the same stability as a webserver.
But if you already have Windows XP, then you should keep that, because it would cost too much to switch. But if you want to get new stuff, I would rccomend a Mac.
