Default Pope Calls Video Games "Perverse"

That's right... pope and perverse in one sentence.

"Any trend to produce programs and products -- including animated films and video games -- which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behavior or the trivialization of human sexuality is a perversion," he said.

He said this was "all the more repulsive" when programs were directed at children and adolescents.

    Read it on CNN.

The Catholic church is having less and less influence in the 21st Century, so I think his comments are pretty irrelevant at this point.

How wonderfully ironic that an ex-member of the Hitler Youth wants to take the moral high ground. I think the jokes write themselves at this point...

He's right, some games are perverse. Perhaps that's why we like 'em

In all fairness, he probably didn't have any choice about joining Hitler Youth.

    Knock yourself out.

"How could one explain this 'entertainment' to the countless innocent young people who actually suffer violence, exploitation and abuse?" he said.
We won't mention the countless cases of child abuse by priests, then?
If you didn't like the above message, that's because it was written by a hacker/my evil twin/aliens. If you did like it, then, yeah, it was all me.

That doesn't exactly alter the fact that he was indeed a member, eh? Meh.

Anyway, who cares what the Pope says. I mean, it's incredibly easy to alter that statement to apply to just about any form of entertainment. It's pretty clear that he just took a hotbed issue, voilence in film and video games, and then crapped out a broad statement in order to placate those who already have it up their ass that video games are bad business. I'm sure that when the next big entertainment medium comes along, he'll just trot out the same verbiage, with it attatched. It's hard to care, really.

It does, Cyber. Scratch the "probably", he HAD to join Hitler Jugend. Legally required and whatnot.

I don't know you, you're not my friend.

Exalted violence? Antisocial behavior? The trivialization of human sexuality? Hm, how odd. These are all things the Catholic church normally endorses.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

Let's say they enlist a draft here in America. I get called into duty. I maybe didn't want to go, but I still had to. Years down the road, even if I tell people that I never wanted to fight in such-and-such war, I cannot say that I wasn't involved in it. That I didn't kill people in the name of my country, if such were to be the case.

So yeah, the Pope can say he didn't want to be part of that bullshit, but he was still part of it. It doesn't necessarily mean that he believed in any of it, but he was still part of it just the same.

Really though, it still gives a hint of irony to his moral standings regarding this issue, even if he didn't buy that BS wholesale.

He's prolly in a fit of rage and got mad b/c he didn't get his weekly dose of altar boy ass, so lets forgive him for his erroneous statements.

Well.. I wouldn't say it's the same thing. Every kid was a member of Hitler Jugend, and he, supposedly, never showed up for the meetings.

Now, okay, he WAS a member of Hitler Jugend, but I don't think that's any reason for us to slander him. Better?

Well America also has this "Guilty by association" law so eventhough he didn;t show up he was guilty be those means.

For example your a passenger in a drunk drivers car and he hits, runs over, and kills and old lady. Your still in trouble.
