I have no real beef with Kingdom Hearts other than it really isnt my style.
What I am hating right now is the amount of people who rag on the new battle system for FF 12 mainly the guys at Penny arcade those boys are talking out their ass. People said "oh Final Fantasy needs to change" well guess what people it did and you bitch about it.
Granted the characters look the worst people ever but I am giving it the benefit of the doubt and will wait till I play it in my hands.

Note Nagisa I didnt mean to sound a douce when I initiallly ragged on Kingdom Hearts so I hope you dont feel I was ragging on you. This rant is directed at you either just the general populas of gaming.

Oh, I don't take any ill from it. Kingdom Hearts isn't everybody's game. Infact it's taken me until about a fortnight ago to getting around to actually beating it (and I still gotta play Chain of Memories).
But it's really all I have to cling for with regards to my hope for the future of Square, what with Dragon Quest VIII being terminally boring and Final Fantasy XII having been through so many dev changes that the original dream was lost and were left with generic characters, an overused world and a battle system is pretty much FFXI verbatim.
Don't get me wrong, change is good! But please do it with side series (Like they did with Xenogears, and Kingdom Hearts). There are certain things people expect from Final Fantasy. It's like when you buy an Iron Maiden album; sure they've sounded the same since 1977 but that's what people EXPECT. So with Star Ocean 3 a travesty, Dragon Quest VIII a great cure for insomnia and Final Fantasy XII basically a single player MMORPG...all I can hedge my hopes on is Kingdom Hearts II - which from playing the little bits I have, I'm really excited for.

I figure after watching the trailer for Kingsom Hearts III that Square's future is pretty reliant on the KH series as a third pillar.
KH has a bit of an ...odd setting. Kind of like a Super Mario RPG imitation, but a bit screwed up. Anyway, aside from that, it doesn't seem like a bad game. However...
I don't know how important storyline is for console RPG gamers, but if FFXII is going to be anything like the good old Tactics games (and why wouldn't it, it even adopted the Ivalice world), it's bound to have an interesting plot. And movie-like cutscenes a'la Vagrant Story (or MGS, for that matter). So I don't see it failing terribly, since FFT/VS didn't, either. FFT is not as great as Tactics Ogre, though, but that's a matter of preference, yet again.

Good points rep coming to you. Now let me throw the swerveball in all this. What about Grandia 3? it is being published by Square-Enix. Now I am sure there is other ROGs coming out from Sqaure which I am going to look up. Obviously Valkyrie Profile 2 is in tehre too.

True enough, true enough. But those aren't really make or break games for Square Enix. Well, actually, what I mean is..think about this.
Before the merger, each company really had one piller series, with some support titles each; Enix had Dragon Quest and Square with Final Fantasy. Support titles included Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, as well as other games which were restrained to a single title release and were a little more obscure such as Xenogears. Neither company ever felt the need to take on a second piller, because it's beneficial to have people know your company by a single name. "Squaresoft? Ohh! Final Fantasy, right?".
In terms of profit, Piller Titles are absolutely safe because it doesn't matter what happens with any other title, people will still buy enough of your pillers to support your business. This is why they've got such large numbers of games in their respective series (Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII).
With the merger, the company now has two pillers to support itself. That's strange, though not unheard of.
But with the trailers presence at the end of Kingdom Hearts II for a third game in the series as well as Square's own announcements, it's pretty much confirmed that Kingdom Hearts is becoming a third piller.
The question I have, is why? Why split the fanbase even more? Dispite it's downfalls, DQ8 was phenominally successful in Japan, and fairly decent in the USA. And that's no break in the trend. On the otherside of the pasture though, we have Final Fantasy. How long has it been since we've had a Final Fantasy that really made people sit up and take notice? Maybe 1997?
Could it be that even Square are worried about their flagship piller title?
Maybe I just think too much x.x

I do think Square are worried about Final Fantasy the thing I think is that we are at basically the 13th entry(FF 12 already been made near release). Now after 12 releases and a 13th game to make. Now what ideas can they have left? This is the thing I dont think Square have been banking on the future with Final Fantasy. I agree with you on everything that you said its a shame I cant rep you again.

I think Square need to sit down and think about whats next for Final Fantasy aka get people who can make more acceptable characters. Hell if you have to go out and ask people what they want in Final Fantasy.

The main thing here is right now lets be honest Kingdom Hearts even though I dont like it is probably the best weapon Square have right now. Final Fantasy is going through a change period so they need there sub games to step up and take the heat while Final Fantasy gets refocused.

I totally agree, Kingdom Hearts probably is their step up measure while Final Fantasy works it's way out of it's downer. And what better game, really? Especially given they get the benefit of Disneys connections and funding, in addition to being able to draw on existing franchises to make the fans smile. So I'm really looking forward to it's English release (I mean, c'mon, Scrooge McDuck!).
And plus the Kingdom Hearts III trailer is totally sweet :D
I just really hope they CAN get Final Fantasy back on top again, because it feels like I've lost a friend without it.

((and thank you for the compliment on my post ^_^))

No problem. I had a thought while getting a delivery. Think about this Square are so scared that they are making sequels for their best hit Final Fantasy 7. Something they said they would never do. That should tell you that Square are saying to themselves "God damn we are striking out here lets just use Final Fantasy 7 as a way to expand and let Kingdom Hearts step up are our main event RPG while we sort the clusterfuck that is Final Fantasy right now."

That's very true, because they haven't really had a really big scale release in so long. Unfortunately it seems FFXII isn't going to change that either, from the looks of things it's going to be a walking testement to the concept of 'too many cooks spoil the broth'. It's been through just about every development team within Square and as such really has no indentity. It tries to do so much, and really doesn't do particularly well at any of it's goals.
In the time since Final Fantasy X, Squaresoft could've sorted everything out and made a game as revolutionary and high scale as Final Fantasy VII in it's prime. I just hope it's not too late to do that now (though with the sales of Kingdom Hearts II absolutely through the roof in Japan, it may well do fine as a piller title to tide them over. Let's hope!).

A toast, to a future where we can all look forward to the next Final Fantasy installment with absolute glee <3
