No, it's not really clear. It doesn't explain anything, unless you already know how it works. That's what I got from all that gibberish. But, knowledgeable as you are, could you clearify that page?

It's not really "meant" to do that, that format is only meant to draw an image. Call it hi-jacking.
Yeah, I get it, but there is some standard that formats should comply to. If the 'giving an attacker full system privileges' thing is part of it, or makes it even remotely possible, then it's not much of an image format.

Does this problem occur with all image formats, or just a few ones?

    Like, BMP?
Nope, not really. It's probably just exploiting some loophole in the format description of one image type. (In layman's terms: An image shouldn't really be doing this, but hey, it is!)

I got the idea that images shouldn't be letting others control or just survey my computer. Thanks, though.

So is this in some way similar to Terminator 3?

Why would you come and ask stupid shit here?

Oh, it's Lag, EP's "special" resident.

Another Lag question coming... which means stupid

If I just went off the internet for a couple weeks to a month, I can't get infected, right?

Nope, you have to either stop using IE or patch it.

But, you could also try that leaving thing.

Bah... I don't use IE anyway. But (and this might make you happy evans ) will I get reassured protection against this thing if I just don't go on ther net at all for a few weeks (including Firefox)?

You might still get screwed by it even if you view the image on your HDD after you've saved it there (yeah, right). Anyway, you should be safe offline. There's not much chance of anyone messing with your comp over the net if you're not connected. And then it's just you.

Firefox is protection enough. Abstinence is not needed, though desirable in your case.

But my mom always tells me I'm a danger to myself What if I screw up my own PC?! While offline even?

And by saving it, you mean, just by wiewing it it saves it automatically?

My God. Lag, read the first post.

No offence lag, but you really do suck.
