    1) Do you have windows XP?
    2) Could be that your Memory Stick Pro Duo is damaged. You see, it doesn't "see" your PSP, but the MSPD, try to reformat it, and then see what happens.

Well i just tried it in my brothers laptop and it finds it ok , so it's nothing to do with the psp or memory stick so something is up with my computer.

Anyone know anything i can do?

I would try backing everything up to your brother's laptop then reformatting your memory stick. That might help it work on your computer.

Ok , i tried backing the things i need on my bros laptop and i reformatted it. But it still doesn't work on my computer and now there is 828Mb free space left on it and it says the max capacity is 956Mb and i think it was 956Mb when i first got it so whats the hidden 128Mb data that is on it?

That's very odd for it to be short that much data. The only thing I can think of is your card is defective. If it isn't too late perhaps you can try returning it for a new one.

Nope it still wont recognise it , maybe if i was to completly delete everything off the mem stick on my brothers laptop and then format it on my psp , would that get that 128Mb free space back?

And i doubt it has anything to do with the psp malfunctioning , it has to be something wrong with my pc.

As anyone had this problem with anything like a digi cam or something because thats the same princable right?

formating on the PSP should get your 128meg back, if it doesnt then the stick is fucked and just take the pack back but only ask for the duo to be replaced, if they say no then just complain, they should do it anyway as it is a manufactors fault.

If it doesn't then you do need to take everything back and get a new one. Giga packs just came out so I am assuming it is still returnable.

No, the PSP works different. When you buy a 512 MB memory stick, you'll get somewhere around 488 MB of space. I honestly have no clue why that is.
Also, try another USB port of your computer, it could be basically anything...

956MB sounds right for a 1GB card. The problem is that it is only seeing 828MB now. My 1 GB card shows up as 949 MB, but it isn't a Sony stick. Since each brand makes them differntly the difference from 949 to 956 is proportionaly small, <1%.
