If you like action-rpg type stuff, then definently get Front Mission: Gun Hazard and its translation. Basically, it is like Cybernator and Target Earth, except much longer and with a more thought out story. You can buy more wanzers, weapons, and can even have partners when going into battle. Very fun and I highly recommend it. It was one of the last SNES games to come out too

Personally, I didn't. It was way too "cookie cutter" for me.

Even though it's been said before you just have to play star ocean. I'm currently playing it myself. Why should you play this game? Well the story is great and i just love the music and how can you not love when the characters are shouting at the end of each battle in japanese. It's just hilarious!!!

Earthbound had a "full" quality that made it classic.

Hardly anybody ever talks about Secret of Evermore. Is this game universally hated or something? Did Square do a big poo poo? Or do people still blame this game for the non-translation of Seiken Densetsu 3..

    Yes, on all counts.

It wasnt as good as Seiken Densetsu 2, contributed to us non-japanese never getting an actual release of SD3, and is generally maligned as being yet another overhyped "blockbuster" game that didnt stand up to the adverts that preceded it and ended up being only average (most other companies could have gotten by with such a game. People expected more from Square).

Secret of Evermore is another one, not the best but I enjoyed it.

Sorry Wyatt, I didn't see your post about this game, but you are right not many people mention it or even like it, as I said I did enjoy it

I think Treasure Hunter is best, of course, not counting Crono Trigger :p
Though you may need translation patch with that game <= japanese

To whoeveritwaswhomentionrobotrek: I liked it a lot at first, when it was liek cookie-cute and you ran around in your village, making robots. It gradually became boring after that. Enix <3

Err, I don't think I can mention something new but I'd like to point out that everyone on EP should beat the romancing SaGa series. They're like nothing you've played before.

I don't know you, you're not my friend.

    I'm full of good ideas..

The romancing SaGa series is one of those lesser-known series that trumps the big names for sheer excellence, but its certainly not for everyone. If you arent used to RPGs being so open-ended, it takes a lot of adjustment before its really possibly to get into the game, and its possible to screw yourself over quite badly in all those games, if you arent careful about your gear and finances.

More RPGs should follow the Romancing SaGa (III?) method of stat increases, as they work much better than just grinding for levels.

EVO - The Search for Eden was a really interesting one for me. I enjoyed playing it but it's a different kind of RPG game
