The Forever series... pretty damn good.
The Forever War - premise: humans have discovered interstellar travel. In doing so, one of our probes is mysteriously destroyed and we discover aliens. Now we must strike their homeworld before they strike ours. The Elite Conscription Act enlists everyone with 150+ IQ from around the world into a space army to go battle those aliens. However, the book details the biggest struggle of one soldier: time. Because of relativity, the marines find themselves in the past of a future they just left. Really great book.
Forever Free - Continuation of the above story. *SPOILERS for the above* Years later, the soldier is on the experimental planet set aside for hetero people who still have sex. But, being one of the last of the Forever War ex-soldiers, he can't get the idea that the new rulers of Earth(essentially massive clones called Man. They are technically human, but... no individuals) are going to keep this ice planet experiment going forever. So how to fix it? Put relativity on your side and travel to the future to escape the present, of course!
and finally,
Forever Peace - While not really connected to the above two books, it details the Earth in a time when wars are fought with "soldierboys", mechanical soldiers/robots controlled from miles away by a group mind of 5 men and 5 women. The book details the travel of one of these men as he discovers something thats supposed to do something else... if you can't tell, I'm not exactly done with this book yet![]()
