    Default buying winxp w/ sp2..

    anyone know of the cheapest place to buy a new copy of winxp home edition sp2? the cheapest i've found is $85 shipped on ebay.

    that is cheap. most of what i've seen with xp is 200 bucks. 150 also.

    Windows XP Home w/sp2 is worth 100$ US, OEM.
    Be sure it's not COA version btw...

    hehe.. i thought COA was canadian at first

    does it matter if i get the upgrade version or not if i am using win98se already?

    If you have an upgrade disk, I believe you can do a fresh install with it if you want - the 98se CD is just used for validation at the beginning of the install.

    Not so sure about that, though it's been a longtime since i did an upgrade, cuz it's shitty.

    upgrading is usually a bad idea. Just results in an unstable enviroment to work in.

    No kidding, I thought the same thing...

    I think it's possible to do a fresh install with the upgrade disc, but I can't confirm this because I don't have an upgrade disc...
