Ive been looking at Comedy Central since ive been sick with the flu for the last few days(normally i dont watch TV), and i have seen something called the Video game awards coming on this Saturday. It's supposed to be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, and have a whole slew of celebrities (Vin Diesel, Tony Hawk, other who have nothing to do with games...). I personally find this invasive and disgusting. Video gaming has been something ive done my whole life. I enjoy each well done game as a person enjoys a piece of art. It has grown from an obscure habit of outcast kids to a national sport (almost). And now Hollywood is going to plant it's hideous paws on our "art".
There have only been a few games that are totally about cash, mostly Harry Potter and other movie based games, and they are usually widely rejected until it hits the bargain bin. I don't want my video games to become saturated with Hollywood voice-overs. I don't want 1,315 Harry Potter games that have the EXACT same graphics engine powering them all, at the low price of 50 bucks each. I don't want more media frenzy. I don't want movies based on games (RE SUCKED ASS, Doom was so-so). I don't want Brad Pitt getting 5mil to do the voice of a character in Troy: The Game. All of this will make gaming just like Hollywood: A town that produces crap-ollah at crazy prices.
Am i alone on this...?![]()
