Well, as long as you bring this up, I've got a problem with the whole "if this works, then God is with me, and if it doesn't, then he has other plans for me" thing too.
As far as the placebo effect goes, it's somewhat true. Take that, sugar pills.![]()

Do you even care?

I am not a satanist nor am I a follower of any faith. I am an atheist. I am not trying to justify any faith. I only wish to seek truth and I thus must be certain of the accuracy of the information used to uphold an idea. You can follow what ever faith/belief you wish, but don't try to justify it with me, please.
I think you are a bit confused. Secular Humanism is a moral philosophy as well as Satanism. However, agnosticism, atheism and deism are schools of thought and not moral philosophies. One cannot be atheist, agnostic and a deist at the same time (no matter how much some people claim they can). Atheism puts forth that one can know that God does or does not exist and therefore state God does not. Deism, a school of thought within theism, is not compatible with atheism because it puts forth the idea that a God does exist. Agnosticism posits that we do not currently know if God does or does not exist but also do not dismiss the possibility that God might. In simpler terms atheism, theism and agnosticism are mere points on a spectrum of views: God exists ---- Maybe Exists? Don't know. ----- God doesn't exist.Originally Posted by Soeru
Also, I'm certain that any form of Humanism is not compatible with Satanism. I will have to check though.
He meant that he's primarily an agnostic, and if he weren't an agnostic he'd be an atheist, etc.

I only mentioned Secular Humanism(and I should've mentioned Unitarian Universalist), because that's what my belief mostly pertained to me in some sort of test from a site we had a thread about a while back.Originally Posted by aristotle73
Yeah pretty much. My belief bends heavily more into atheism, as I don't think I'd be capable of believing in the supernatural(be it God, afterlife, and the concept of a spirit/soul). It's very likely that it's all a complex dance of electrons in humans' nervous system to apply meaning to poorly understood subjects. The reason why I'm not a pure rock-solid atheist is because science remains to explain a few things, but once that's cleared up I see no reason why I wouldn't be considered an atheist, but some discoveries might not be made in my lifetime so I might not get to see that. If I reach death as an agnostic I'd probably be unhappy, I'm much happier with the idea of atheism but in any case even if the supernatural being is proved to exist, he is not really a "he" or a person-like thing that can judge me. He better have some cookies ready when I reach afterlife.Originally Posted by Fate
Being agnostic also helps me understand other cultures and religions' justification for their belief, it helps me keep an open mind while still very firmly grasping my own belief.

Just sort of means that you don't necessarily believe in a god or divinity, but you don't outright deny the existence of something superior, as you would if you were atheist. Skeptical atheism is what I like to call it.
On the comments about Satanism, you guys do know that "Satan" is ancient hebrew for "opposer" right? So in a sense, Satanism and athesim are one and the same.

I have found a very good huge essay that explains why atheism is needed over religion and how religions are wrong.

God said Nietzsche is dead...
God is a false remedy for those who have no faith in themselves...
Atheism is a false remedy for those who have no faith in God...
I prayed to God and He told me I have free will to believe in my atheistic views...

You don't oppose Religion I take it, so I can't call you a Satanist (remember Satan is just a Ancient Hebrew word for Opposer).
If you prayed to god, and god told you.... you know what. Forget it. I can't tell just WHAT you are. Atheist, yet you prayed to god. You don't believe in god but... WHAT ARE YOU!!! WHY MUST YOU CONFUSE ME?!

If there is no God there is no need for us to concern ourselvesd with the discussion...
If there is a God, the Bible (Old Testament) as well as Jesus (New Testament)
said several times that He is way beyond anything we can ever comprehend so again...if God Himself said we can't understand Him then there is no need for us to second guess that and try by having this discussion...
I'm not saying the thread is a bad one, but I think the more appropriate question is that whether there is a God or not, do you live your life to be the best person you can be?
And if you do or not, why?

Love for Jehovah is the main reason why my people follow what god says. believing in god is necessary for us to do that.
