The 2500+ is really cheap now, I bought one about a year ago and it was only 130 bucks. Get yourself 512MB of ram (minimum), and you'll be just fine. Read some reviews on overclocking with Athlon's XP 2500+, and you'll see what I mean. It's the board I have. Even with my old, slow DDR 266 ram, I can overclock by almost 200 MHz, with no stability problems whatsoever.
I totally agree with PMC_Analyst. Go with the XP 2500+. I hope everyone knows that the AGP bus is being DISCONTINUED...video cards are starting to disappear already. Get PCIe (PCI express) on a fast board that supports the 64-bit operating systems, as they will be the defacto standard in about 2-3 yrs.
