I got my 120giger for about $60. That was what the was for. There is no reason to really want that. But having an external drive can be very nice for backing up files between system, so I can see the desire to have one. My Iriver IHP120 has turned out to be invaluable in such cases.

oh i see. you're buying it for transfer purposes and not for actual storage. if thats so then...i guess 100 bucks is ok. i wouldn't know, i usually spring for permanent storange devices.

No, I think even for transfer purposes it is way to expensive. I'd rig up a cheap usb external for like $50.

I think my 160 GB HDD cost about $100. Yay for Sweden's 25% tax on goods and services.

[21:14:05] (Skinner8) So there's this thing on TV, an advertisement for some car, and it goes "It's a long time until christmas... but we think you should buy your presents already."
[21:14:40] (Skinner8) Paraphrased: "CONSUMER CULTURE CONFORM COMPLY"

    Yeah.

Fucking consumerism. Makes me want to cry. Today's Diwali in India, which is like the Indian New Year/Christmas and it's a big deal. Called the Festival of Lights b/c Rama came bakc from the forest on a night with no moon so everyone lit up candles or whatever they had in the 9th century to greet him and his brother and wife. But ever since, people sit and burst crackers. I mean people don't just burst crackers. They have contests on who can burst more and buy a more expensive ones. Crackers, for Satan's sake-CRACKERS. Bloody feed some hungry people. Crackers. Something you freaking burn and is wiped out in its existence in less than a minute. What is the matter with people. Anyhow, if they don't want to care about how completely silly it is to be spending money on something so stupid, you would think that one of the most polluted countries in the world would care about the amount of noise and air pollution it would produce, but no. It's too much to ask of people who compete with fireworks.
I don't know how people can live like this, in their little fireworky bubbles filled with ignorance and protected with apathy. Everybody fucking goes ooh and aaah when they hear of all the hurricanes and tsunamis, but no one ever thinks that the fact that the fucking ozone layer is really depleting or that we really are not environmental friendly in anyway. And yet, they'll bloody burst a fuck load of crackers in a place that is already super dusty. Fucking Dicks.
