Meh, the PSP is too complicated. And how would you actually get the emulators onto the thing? Is it like a mini PC? I thought it was only a mini Playstation (with shittier games), and it plays music and movies too. Why would you want the NES and SNES emulators on that anyway when you can play them on your pc instead?
Just my thoughts... and I'm usually wrong

The emulators and ROMs are saved onto a memory stick, I believe. Size shouldn't be a problem, as sticks go up to 1 GB. And I can't resist the temptation to have hundreds of classics at my fingertips, and on the go! and yes, I agree that the PSP has shitty games. The only good one is Metal Gear Acid. But oh well.

No use for homebrew at all, I'm afraid. The downgrader is completely locked out and is rumoured to brick your PSP if you use it on 2.5. If you want a PSP then get one as soon as possible to ensure you get a 2.0 model. From the looks of things it won't be long before Sony start shipping them with 2.5 firmware.

I agree. The aid must be such that it allows those receiving it to become independent.

But what about what he was saying with the chickens and stuff? With those they are able to have a source of income...a pretty good step in the right direction if you ask me.

Of course one person can't stop world hunger. But if you are that one who is receiving help, then it means the world to you. When you look at things in that light, you can either get your XBOX 360 which will increase your well being only marginally, or you could change someone else's life.

but before that, the only good game was ridge racer.

and what i want for christmas? i want to go home. i want a nap and a hot shower. i'd really like a girlfirend. but most of all, i want people to quit trying to kill me.

happy holidays from a combat zone, bitches!

No offence, but it's pretty much a given that things won't work after they've been run over with tanks.

    Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX GPU
    2gb of 240-pin DDR2 RAM (1gb x 2) with CAS latency under 4 and good timings.
    Ninja Scythe CPU Heatsink
    Subbeam transparant computer case

I'll end up buying these myself most likely, like the motherboard and CPU I already bought.

Fair enough man. I'll also vouch for how carefully the thing has to be handled, gets dirty so damn easily.

If I do get it too late, is it possible to install the 2.0 software instead of the 2.5? Or does the PSP software come directly installed on the PSP as soon as I buy it? Or is the only way to install the initial software through UMD?

Basically the UMD just provides a further upgrade. For example, my PSP had 1.52 firmware pre-installed but the UMD included the 2.0 upgrade. I'm not entirely sure what version of firmware PSPs are shipping with outside of Europe but I'd presume it's at least 2.0 with the 2.01 upgrade on the UMD. Sadly though you won't be able to downgrade if you get a 2.01 or 2.5 PSP. Sony released these updates with the sole purpose of fixing the exploits in 2.0. There's currently no way to downgrade or run homebrew on 2.01 or 2.5 PSPs.

There's no 2.5 yet outside japan, methinks.

Le' gasp! If you can't run emulators on a PSP, then it's completely worthless! Well, last I saw on Sony's website, they were still shipping out with the 1.52 firmware pre-installed.

EDIT: The website says that as of Oct 13, they were still shipping out with 1.52 hardware. Well, if that fails, I think I can just get a used PSP.
