    Question Death of US industry?

So are GM and Ford on the way out, or to paraphrase Mark Twain has news of their death been greatly exaggerated? With IBM selling out their PC side to Lenovo, and another Chinese company's failed bid for Unocal 76, can US industry recover?

Pssh. For having a poor opinion of where I was born. Yeah. I'm sure I can help that. I'm also sure I could have helped being born here. Absolutely sure too. I blame my parents mostly. On the sonagram I was holding up a sign that read 'No way, USA'. But they pressed the matter further than I was willing to go. So I was born here. It's entirely not my fault that this country has dropped a few pegs.

US Industry isn't dying. We're moving from automobiles and T-Shirts to PC's, software, and hi-tech jobs. Were gonna lose cars and clothes to Japan and China (let's face it they make a great car, they also know that there is no reason to own an SUV if you don't have some kind of job that would require 4x4 off-road capability, that has to transport more than 4 people and not haul anything.)

The US needs to move away from manufactuering and press into Software and Hardware research. If we can build the better PC, write the better software, then the US will be fine.

Also, the USA is and has been a big agricultural state for a long time. If we stopped trying to build more factories and homes in the mid-west of the US and grew more food the USA has the climate and the soil we could feed the whole world. But the damn companies and rich-pricks of the East and West coast have to keep moving out here and taking away possible farmland. That's something that pisses me off in this country, that we could feed the world but noooooooooo we have to give every millionaire 1000 acres to stare at and then give away farms to be built in mansions for more rich assholes and then the USA government does the dumbest thing possible, PAYING FARMERS not to harvest certain amounts of land. That's BS plain and simple.
