It might just work.
But it's sort of awkward that you either be using the D-pad and one button, or swinging the thing around and using two buttons. Or you'll have to use a bizarre-looking analog addon thingy in your other hand.

FPS's will be kick ass with that controller.. MPE with the revolution controller felt like a PC FPS according to Gamespot.

I'm starting to think that the mouse-keyboard combo might actually be inferior now to the controls of console FPS games. Auto-aim + analog stick sucked (compared to what it's like on PC, of course), but this time it's different.

Time will only tell if this is awesome or terrible. First it will depend how nice the controller is to use, and then how well it is utilized. But slashing around with Link sounds kickass.

Yeah, apparently there's the option for add on controller thingy's that'll allow you to play old games. Like...a Nintendo 64 add on, or a SNES add on. The stock controller lends itself well to NES games, but beyond that...no.

Dude, I'm thinkin' that Nintendo is out to farm cash here. They've already stated that the classics will cost us, and now they're gonna make us pay for controller add ons to play 'em.

I dunno about that, considering the claims about what this remote...er, I mean controller can do, they are prolly gonna be hella easier to play now, considering you could pop off an enemy at one end of the screen and cap the other one on the other end mucho quicker than you could using an analog stick. I must say though, that remote...I mean controller looks to much like a TV remote controller. The only thing is, millions of kids and grown-ups everywhere are gonna look really stupid playing games now. "Honey, have you gone mad? Why are you swinging and flailing yourself about the living room?"..."I'm trying to get the Uber Orb from King LAUGLAHGLUGLAHGLAUGHAGLAUGHG so I can reach level 250 with my character."

I have to say, this is as different as I expected it to be. Perhaps not so revolutionary, but definatly different. Like Dave, no play, no comment. However, reading about it makes it look sexier and sexier...

Sure, there could be lots of add ons since the motion detector system is in place already. Maybe they could add a sort of glove which you could wear and it would detect the motion of your hand, fingers, etc. etc. Lots of possibilities, it's only their creativity that'll limit them, and I'm sure the sky is the limit for Nintendo as far as that is concerned..
