It's bothering me a little...when you say "pre-teen" signatures, do you mean skins made by pre-teens, skins made to cater to pre-teens, or skins made to feature pre-teens? None of them sound that good (and the last is frankly disturbing)...ah, well, I only use four skins often, myself, depending on the look I want with the wallpaper I've chosen that month: Impulse (mini-mode only), Timepiece, Neptune (windowshade only), and Triton (corner mode only). The others I've seen are mostly rather clunky.

No. Skins meant to be used by pre-teens, which are usually so blinded by the bling bling that they forget what winamp was intended for, listening to audio in diverse formats.
Not that having a good looking amp is bad, but I just feel like all those extruding "at a touch of a button" gizmodos and infinite unfolding panels don't have a place at what was at the base a powerful audio player.
They fell down in the abyss of obsolete with all that integrated browser and video viewer module/plugin crap (which is at best extremely bad btw), and i'm not even taking time to talk about that 3D game plugin that once appeared. Do you remember the time when new plugins were comming out because they were needed, not because the author had free time?

Basicly, i'm using old winamp mostly because it is productive, doesn't take 50mb of hard drive space, doesn't take dozens of megabytes of ram and tons of cpu cycles.

BTW, Winamp 2.81 and version up from it DO have the Nullsoft General hotkeys plugin included, if that interests you. I'm using it often to change track while surfing on the net or even playing a fullscreen game.

700 is quite a bit from 20 000 if you ask me...

Hey btw, where are the global hotkeys? i use 2.95 and can't seem to find them in the settings dialogue?

EDIT: Found some cons with winamp 2.xx

    1. Loads MP3 info slower than winamp5
    2. if track has an id3 tag, but it is blank, wampm 2.xx displays it as " - "
winamp 5.xx displays it as its filename.

Winamp 2.76 is fine... I use this totally awesome skin called 'WinAmp XP'. It's basically a Windows XP Pro theme, but I like it simple like that I guess. I've been using it for years, well, like 2 or 3 at least.
I can't attach this skin, and I tried looking for it on the Winamp site, but couldn't find it. That's too bad, but I love it at least.

That skin isn't it, but it is relatively close to the one I use...

It was ok... a little to plain for me,and non-fitting, seeing as i dont use the standard windows theme.

I agree on the xbox solution, not many things can beat that, especially if u have uber-leet speakers

Quintessential Player has always satisfied my simple play list based media player needs. I had it running 4,000 tracks with no lag. it always runs very smooth.

I don't know whether to merge or close this, as we already have a decent media player list stickied. Might merge.

In Winamp, the higher versions, I mean (I have version 2.76, so I can't anyway), can you sort your playlist by artist, album, year, or track? And in what version can you do this, if you can, even.

Don't think so, but WinAMP 5 (and possibly 3, but you really don't want to use that) has a media library thing which makes sorting music like that quite easy. And foobar2000 has the same thing with some extra customisation and less stats.
