Plus I didn't realise until Pkt (or Xena) said about the Klarth and Cless scene from phantasia, to be honest I didn't recognize them.

I mean the Helms Deep footage where instead of an army of elven archers come to help, its actually hooded badgers.

He knows/played ToP. Not all people are this lucky.

Nah, I didn't play Tales of Destiny (YES, I AM A SINNER PURGE ME NOW! ). Well, um, I started Tales of Destiny 2 (Tales of Eternia), but didn't quite finish it. If I remember correctly, I have to go to Ifrit now... meh, maybe I should play it again.

IS a SINNER for not playing Tales of Destiny, but less so for starting ToD2.

Tales of Destiny is so cool, and with your experience on Phantasia the battles for Destiny will be even easier, trust me according to some boss battle guides i've seen (don't care about the strats just wanted to see if I was at a high enough level or something) and some of them say it's a really tough battle but so far i've not had to use a revive item once during the entire game i've played so far.

Thinks I'm a sinner, so he'll try to purge me I guess
    Gotta hide.

Anyway, that's what I like in the "Tales of" or even Star Ocean's battle system. You've noticed that in FF games, your success only depends on your level, right? In ToD2 (and I guess it's the same for ToD1), although you still need levels, much more depends on the player's skill at playing the game (well, you're controlling the hero 100% real-time in battle after all).
