    Default Whatcha Think?

    http://www.modchip.com/ps2/v56pnporder.php = no solder ps2 modchip
    and
    http://www.gizmo-guru.com/consoles/ps2_mod_chip.htm = swap magic 3.6

i'm thinking of ordering these 2 items. mainly because something happened with my DBZ Budokai 3 game and its scratched. it works fine right now but i wanna back it up, right now its my fav game so yeah. that chip says no soldering required and all i have to do is hook up 2 ribbons, which i'm assuming/hoping they come with the chip and says it needs swap magic also. i read through the instructions, sounds simple enough. what do you guys think? should i go for it?

Why not just get the Swap Magic, and not the mod chip? O.o

cuuuuuz, i heard using the swap magic method is complicated and a pain in the ass. i've never used it before. only swap method i've used is on my old psx with a gameshark. load up the GS, choose start with/out cheats, insert backed up game and it loaded it. i'm told that method would never work with a non modded ps2 and its a different method using swap magic.

Complicated, no. A pain, just a little.

All you do is take the thing of where you put your disk in, and use a clide card to manually eject the thing.

so i should be getting a slide card and swap magic? also, i just saw a torrent for download of action replay max evo edition swap magic....would that count as a swap magic disc? if so, technically, if i burn it, it wouldn't even boot on a non modded ps2 so how would that be of use to me?

If you're really interested in Swap Magic, here's a quote of TobyNY from another post....

    - 3 discs: 1 for CD's, 1 for DVD-5's, 1 for DVD9 (Dual-Layer) games
    - Highest TOC possible for all discs. This means a 700 MB TOC for CD games, 4.37 GB TOC for DVD-5's, and 8.+ TOC for DVD9 games.
    - Perfect game compatibility I.E. unlimited IOP resets. Swap Magic 3.3 and 3.6 already run games perfect but certain online games like Killzone and Project Snowblind might freeze if you enter and exit online play more then 10 times due to too much IOP resetting.
And that "Action Replay Max Evo - Swap Magic" won't work. Its just a modified version of AR Max Evo so that it works properly with swap magic so people with swap magic can cheat

The torrent you're referring to isn't swap magic, and it wouldn't work. But yeah, rather than paying 100+ dollars for a mod chip, just dish out 30-40 for the Swap Magic and Slide Card.

But still, in my opinion, I would recommend you to get a modchip. Get a DMS4 Pro or Lite (or get a Matrix Infinity modchip or Crystal Modchip) as all these modchips can be flash upgraded. I would recommend you to get it installed by a PROFESSIONAL MODDER in your area. The extra money spent would be really worth it, and if you come to think of it, its a ONE TIME INVESTIMENT as after that you can do loads of stuff with DMS4 modchip like booting games off HDD and putting all kinds of proggies onto your memory card and booting them off of memory card and stuff like that. Also you can put all kinds of Divx/Xvid movies onto your HDD and watch em on your TV

Cyberxion has a PS2 with a DMS4 on board, so if you got questions you can PM him. I have a Magic V 50k modchip but it can't be flash upgraded but it plays everything I throw at it, PS1 games PS2 games, DVD9 PS2 games, DVD movies, etc, etc.

i only use my ps2 for ps2 games, plus i don't have an HDD nor do i plan on gettin one lol for psx i just use my psx or pc. i read through the instructions of that slide card i posted before and it looks complicated. and if i do go and spend on a chip, i dunno anyone who will install it lol

Edit: also, i just ran into my old code breaker disc for ps2. but only a disc, i forgot if it has that lil memory card looking thing that you insert in the memory card slot on the ps2 the way you would with a gameshark. just wondering if codebreaker is supposed to come with that kind of card cuz if it does then i forgot where i put mine lol

No. Codebreaker doesn't come with any kind of dongle (memory card thingie). Previous versions of Gameshark 2 and Action Replay used to come with a dongle without which they won't work, but codebreaker never came with one so whenever you added new codes, it would save it on a regular PS2 memory card

I heard the no solder chip is a piece of crap. Don't quote me on that though.

This is exactly what Cyber has and its really good. All you have to do is open your PS2, PLUG IT IN AND ROCK ON, and it will work just like a professional install
