Gmail is pretty pointless. I've had my Hotmail address for about 6 years, and I'm on about 3% of my 250MB total. I don't need 2GB and and I don't need to change emails. Trendwhores.

probalby by inviting someone they get some type of thing from someon which helps support there gmail accounts in some way... like you click an invite you get them a dollar or something from some site you supports them... that might be an idea of why they have those 50's instead of open to the public.

I have my gmail account since Cosmic invited me months agoand since then I use it more than my hotmail account, dont ask me why, maybe only cos its newer

I also have 50 invites which are like replenished every week. Its pretty obvious there not testing anymore.

I think they keep the invite system because it helps them keep "cool" and "underground" I think that if they just opened it up to everybody, the popularity would go way down.
