    Too many.
For true you should play Tales of Symphonia if you can get your hands on a GameCube. The battle system is more like a fighting game than an RPG type battle system. All the Tales of games have a more fast paced battle system, ToS is just the best so far .

Eh, I would disagree with you there I found ToP more enjoyable but thats me. ToP has a annoying to use battle system in the SNES one but the PSOne and GBA ones battle systems easier to use Manual control is very simular to ToS's battle system really.

I don't mind turn based as long as the encounters aren't frequent at least like in the Breath of Fire games

    Random encounters are horrible, really.
And a suggestion for an RPG: Valkyrie Profile. You explore the dungeons in platformer fashion, you can even jump over the enemies, if you'd like. The combat system looks like this: each character has 3 moves, and you can rearrange their order before battles. Depending on your weapon, you might not be able to use all three. Then, when you engage an enemy, you just have to time those attacks so you do maximum damage. There's a special bar that fills up with each successful strike, allowing you to unleash destructive special attacks.
Though the battles do happen on a separate screen, it's still a good game IMHO, not the best, but good.
I'd go with the turn based battles of Fallout anytime, but that's just me.

    FFVIII was the best, IMO.

    Back on topic...

My two favorites are FF 2 & 3 US.

FF7 was a very sour experience for me, with a horrible bug ruining my first trip through the game, and also with Sephiroth completely failing to wow me after he killed Aeris. Rightfully he should have completely cleaved her in two instead of giving her some pansy jab through the stomach. I was actually quite excited about the likelihood of seeing her split in half much like how fighters die in the Samurai Shodown games, but vertically from head to groin. What a bitter disappointment. I have other complaints about this game, but I don't wish to get into it.

I didn't really enjoy any of the PS 1/2 Final Fantasies with the sole exception of Tactics. I think the main reason for that was I could create neat-looking characters and name them after friends and family.

The characters from the newer FF's look like fashion models. Woop-dee-doo. Character x has crazy clothes! Wow! Look at his swirly hair! Awesome! I really don't want the characters I play as looking chic. It makes them look like a bunch of fruitcakes.

In all honesty, I didn't play 8, 10, 10-2, or 11, and never plan to. I sampled 8 for about half-an-hour before I turned it off. Just too much yakking and not enough gameplay.
    Greatly enjoyed Monster Hunter
    Happily playing Guild Wars
Sorely disappointed with Star Ocean 3

Yeah, yeah... another FFVII fan-boy but I really favor that game for some reason, but its between that and FFX.

It's ok, no need to sweat, no matter what the hardcore gamers say, everyone is free to like one game or another

Eh, I tend to have different opinions each time I answer in a "Best FF!"-topic, but uh, here we go:

Final Fantasy VII. It's one of my all-time favorites. Oh go on, flame me or whatever, I don't care what other people say, I loved the fuck out of this game. My first FF-game, by the way.

Actually, I like pretty much every numbered FF (not counting XI ) (with the exception of IIIj (haven't played much) and II (never got too far in it, I lost my interest quickly)) there is, even FFX-2. Come on, that game wasn't THAT bad as most people say. Sure, the game's music is kinda fucked up, but the gameplay in it was better than any other FF I've played. Fast and furious. Melike.

-6 i thought had a good story and was pretty fun, good characters, good world to play in. Magic wasnt too bad.

-7 (although its a wide opinion) was/is my favourite as the story is very in-depth and there is a great deal to the game. The characters are all pretty damn good (2 secret characters also), and even though some say the materia system is too 'basic' it is still a good system. The limit breaks and magic attacks all look very good, and even the enemies are cool. (Sephiroth is awesome) Although the graphics are poor, i'd try get this for Pc if u can as you can at least up the resolution which takes away a fair amount of 'blockyness' as god knows there is enough of it already in the game.

-8 Is also very good imo as it is much more realistic. The characters were all good and they are actually taller, and the graphics in general are less cartoony. The story for 8 is also very good as it is more of a political storyline. But not at all boring.
The draw/junction system is also very good and gives your characters a much much greater deal of versatility. Lots of secrets in this game and extra things to do. And even a card game 'Triple Triads' which is pretty fun.

-9 wasnt my favourite, the characters werent very likeable and the story was okay, but not at all too great, and the characters were also rather limited in their abilities (as in, certain people can use magic, and certain people can heal/summon etc). The graphics are again, more cartoony, but still, i'd say it's worth a test run. A lot of side quests, some not too great and the card game 'Tetra Masters'(i think) was shockingly bad imo.

-X & X-2. i dont know if u can download these but anyway...

-X did have a very good storyline that sortof took most people by surprise toward the end. The graphics are good and the characters are much more 'connectable', maybey due to the fact you can hear their emotions. The rest of the game is decent, but i would play it again purely for the story. Blitzball also had its moments (interactive sport minigame)

    - X-2 i dont have much to say about this as i hate it. it is very girly and you have to work on a percentage of completed basis where you only get the final and best ending after gaining 100% and more which is very annoying to do. And the game only consists of 3 characters who soon become tiresome. And blitzball in this was more like a socer manager game which i found very weak indeed.

FFTA(final fantasy tactics advanced) was an okay game but isnt very 'addictive' as you soon find yourself bored with the same old system over and over (fighting). I soon found myself simply playing just to see the ending.

Final Fantasy is a good series, of course its a biased opinion, but i suggest giving it a shot and finding out for yourself. It is worth it.
    -good luck
man prity much wat he said 7 was the best but the 9 8 at the end was borring
God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy s.h.i.t we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

I have to go with VI as my all time favorite, however VII is extremely close, as is IV. I've beaten all three of these multiple times and found every item, weapon, esper, materia, etc. I can't say the same for the other games in the series though - I pretty much just ran through 8,9 and X-2 (which I totally agree with whoever said they hated it: it's an utter piece of shit). So yeah, there's my two cents.

Final Fantasy VII without second thought.Second comes Final Fantasy VI.Playstation 2 Final Fantasy Games are really dissapointed me.And from what i read on famous sites i think Final Fantasy XII will be even worse.

I finished Final Fantasy VII 3 times & now i am playing for the 4th time.

What can i say best rpg game that i have ever played second comes xenogears its not final fantasy but its really good.In terms of story i think is even better than ff 7.I dont put it as my best rpg ever played because its a little difficult & annoying some times. But other than that a great rpg.

I bet we dont see any rpgs like that in the ps2 or in the ps3.x-box 360 etc.

But i want to play ff crystal chronicles on gamecube.

Anybody played that game?Whats your opinions to that?

Is like old ff or not?

I agree, Xenogears is damn good.... I mean DAMN good, but it is a bit annoying at times.

I bet you're 110% right - the end of real RPG's ended with the PSX, in my opinion.

No you don't - go play in the middle of the highway instead - atleast by doing that you can work on your reflex skills by dodging cars. (seriously though, this game is shit, and the only way it's even remotely interesting is if you have 4 controllers, and 3 other buddies who are willing to sit through this game with you)

Is like old ff or not?
Hell no, it's like Dungeon Explorer or something. It's definately not old school FF - the last old school FF we'll ever see probably is IX, unless you want to count the FF Origins and what not.

I think that covers all your questions.
