Splitting an .rar file?

How do you split an .rar file? After I add the file to be compressed in WinRAR, the split files field is greyed out...Is there a special way to do this?

Look for the "Split to volumes, bytes" entry field. Specify how many bytes large should each volume be there. It's only greyed out for me if I choose ZIP as the compression method.

I have RAR as the compression method but the field is still greyed out...it's the field right under the field where you pick "best compression" right? Lemme make sure I'm even starting this right, I made a new WinRAR archive then click "Add" to add my files, after that the split field is greyed out.

What Toshio's saying is right. I think you need the registered version to use that feature.

Absolutely not. Splitting archive works in shareware version too.
Maybe the newest wersion requiers to register before you can use it...

Edit: I know what's wrong.
This one is disabled if you use it directly from WinRar.
Instead of that use "right click on file/directory"->"add to archive..." method.

Oh, that sucks. Well I just uploaded a 600 mb file to YSI...haha. It's Vigilante 8 for PSX. I'll post it in the Links thread after the person I uploaed it for downloads it. BTW, if someone has a full version of WinRAR and could upload it that would be great.

Funny, I have Winrar 3.41, and it says evaluation version. And that field's not greyed out.

Well it's greyed sometimes, but it's greyed...when you try
to add soemthing to an existing archive.
