Uh lets think back to 1993, I dont think ADT was setting up home systems for cheap enough for a family at poverty level to afford one.

My step mother now, it was her husband at the time, well he broke into our house because she was cheating on him with my Dad. He broke in and had a Ithica 12 guage with 5 low brass slugs. Each had a specified destination: Julie (step mother), Ben (Brother), Dad, Me, then himself. It was all planned to be a mass homicide then a suicide. He had the shotgun to my step mothers head, she hit the gun and it fired into the kitched ceiling, he now only had 4 shells left, and his plan would fail. He went down stairs to find my Dad, we were gone, my Dad ran us across the street. When he was over there he heard the gunshot. Then he heard another, when he came back over, the guy was laying in their bedroom with a bullet hole under the chin, and the shotgun laying on the ground. He was a bigger man and it was completely possible, he committed suicide.

Earlier that day he had threatened to break in, my Dad had his .44 Magnum hidden above the refridgerator to take him out, it was never needed. I was 6 when all this happened. I am a supporter of guns for not only hunting and recreation but for protection. I rest my case.
    I read this. Twice.

I still can't see in what way that .44 helped you.

You know how little of a point that makes? You are just proving that if the U.S was smart enough to take out guns other than for military purpose that whole incident could have been avoided and a phonecall to the cops as he was banging on your door would have solved this problem. Another inquery of mine is, why would your dad be with a woman that is currently married? I mean couldn't they just wait until a divorce was filed or something along those lines. Anyhow my point being is guns serve no purpose other than to take the lives of others, and that is one invention the world would be better off without. Anyhow I am suprised you still support guns seeing how your life was planned to be taken out with one. I would completely be against them seeing how a gun served no purpose in that situation since the only gun used was the one the assailant used to commit suicide with. Well that is just my 2 cents.

Edit: I just read the part that is in bold, wow I can just imagine that being used in court as to why guns should be allowed. That would be one hilarious reponse from the judge. Good thing you are not a lawyer .

I don't even have a dick. If I did I could pass it off as a gun. Somehow.
Why do you need guns when knives don't even need licensing and are more torturous.

Lets just say I don't particularly like private ownership of guns in urban/suburban areas. Maybe in rural areas where people hunt and stuff I can see having a gun. But the only reason to have a gun in the city is to hurt/kill people and that's just WRONG. If nobody (and I mean nobody) except the cops had guns in the cities, you wouldn't have as many gang shootings and stuff.

Needless to say, I don't own a gun. Except in FPS games.

Maybe you come from the land of rich people, because not everyone can afford a home security system. Have you ever heard the expression "Poor Man's Lawyer"? I guess not.

I myself do not own a gun, because I don't know the current New York State law's on self denfese. I don't see my self carrying one either. However, I do own 2 pairs of brass knuckles, a 180,000 volt stun-gun that's disguised to look like a cell phone, and a dagger. I live in New York City, and while the crime has gone down here dramatically over the years, it's still not 100% safe to just walk the streets late at night. I carry my cellphone stun-gun with me whereever I go, for protection. I've been mugged twice, the 2nd time the dude wasn't so lucky. I would never keep a gun in my house, because there so many other ways of protecting my self. Example:If someone tryed to break into my home, I would hear them before they even got through the door, and as soon as they got through, BOOM, 4 finger brass knuckle right to the face, and stun gun shock to finish it off. Then call the dirty stupid cops ofcourse.

While it is true that a home security system would work for home protection, it doesn't hurt to have multiple lines of defense if you can afford it like an attack rhino or a gun.

What if to protect yourself you got a paintball gun... that's not a real gun so you can't kill the guy but you can shoot a lot of paint into his head... that would heard.... of course you should dial down how fast it shoots out otherwise it probably would do damage....

    Well I do agree.

And a Security system is just and example... You can make your home secure by making sure all your windows have locks, and your doors are dead bolted...

If your house looks like it would be harder to break in to you'll discourage some would be theifs.

True, it's like poker, if you make it look like you have the best hand, the others will fold.
