Best Final Fantasy Game?

aeris was useless IMO. i hated using her also cuz she was so weak and i never really invested in extra materia or equipment for her the way i did my other main characters.

I wonder if she was weak and useless because you didn't give her any equipment or materia...hmmm.

lol no. my 1st few times playing through that game i did manage to build her up well and finally came to the conclusion that she just sucks. she's physically weak, and only good with healing limit breaks.

Personaly... I liked her... She rounded out my party.

oh i healed alright, with items and materia. i only used her if i was forced too. other wise there really was no reason for her to be in any party of mine.

Well, when I subjected myself to playing through final fantasy 7, I already knew about eh... Aries' fate in the game, and figured I wasn't going to waste too much time on her.
If I had played through without this knowledge, chances are I would have spent a good deal of effort on improving her character, heal/support(white mage) characters are always my best in Final Fantasy games. The first time I played through FinalFantasy1, I half my part was white mages. And in Final Fantasy 6, Celes was my favourite character, although she was really more of a red mage, that "Runic" ability really made her a great support character.

*sigh* I really did like Aeris :'( ... it just about killed me when she died, but yeah, as far as usefulness is concerned, she's saved my ass quite a few times, and that's commendable, especially with Great Gospel (the only ability in the game that makes the entire party invulnerable)... but either than that, I really liked her role in the story as well

yeah, it really was sad when ole sephy slaughtered aeris. i held the tears in. btw, just for the sake of being more clear, when i said that i thought she was useless, i meant in the battlefield. her role was good in the story itself, i just wasn't fond of her in battle even if she was a strong magic user.

Keh? FF8 is pretty poor in my opinion the whole GFs make your forget things is simply a stupid plot device to explain everything. And the plot was poor, it tries to impress the gamer with a romance story and evil villian type thing but fails. Also the battle system is very slow can't stand its speed.

There is a romance part of practically all the newer Final Fantasys.

FF7- Cloud/Tifa
FF8- Squall/ (what was her name?)
FF9- Zidane/ Dagger(Garnet)
FF10- Tidus/Yuna

Actually the Plot of FF8 Id say is the best because its not just some people destined to be Heros. Its just some Teenagers that are in the Elite Military Group known as SeeD so its more realistic. Hmm maybe it does suck since its Final (Fantasy).

Actually there romance in other FFs as well like in FF6 with Locke and Celes for example. Another is in FF4 with Cecil and Rosa. I don't know how one can consider FF8 having a decent plot because all it is some evil witch trying to compress time for no reason whatsoever.
