Double postin' is the shit.
Just one question, what's so great with the FFVII storyline? There's a bunch of shit that you never get to know (unexplainable and confusing) and the only characters with a "cool" personal story is Vincent and Mr. T, uh, Barret. Sephiroth still sucks, Cloud is a like a bad full of uselessness and the rest are just bland and boring. I also didn't give a crap about Aeris dying, Delita's sister (Ophelia or something? Meh, my memory is bad...) on the other hand, THAT was sad. And that Tantalus guy getting turned into stone, same thing there. You know why? THEY HAD PERSONALITIES! I'd say that every game after FFV is better, storywise, than FFVII (with the obvious exception of FFVIII which I find repulsive).
And that was my rant of the day, enjoy.
I don't know you, you're not my friend.
I'm full of good ideas..
actually PSX is better because of a lot of glitches in the PC version. If you go to gamespot and read the PC versions of the game their rating is lower and they explain why. I have FF7 on computer and I dislike it compared to the PSX they graphics arent that much better.. Plus FF7 doesnt even work on windows XP service pack 2.. if you get to the chocobo part it closes the game, i emailed eidos and they said it doesnt work with service pack two I was angry..
Sry for the double posting :=D. Whats so great about the storyline of FF7. Well its goes into great detail of their backgrounds of most of the characters, which is rare FF games.Originally Posted by St. Elmdor

that seems like a good storyline to me. I don't see what wrong with it?
The Final Fantasy 8 storyline.
Its not about some group of people destined to save the world for one guy trying to take it over. Its more realistic.
" While calm in appearance, the serenity that blankets the world is merely a curtain over the turmoil that threatens to surface...
An unprovoked attack against a neighboring country, an assault by a strike team deep into enemy territory, and a declaration of war against the world plunges a previously peaceful existence into bitterness and chaos. Thrust into the ensuing madness is a young man named Squall Leonhart, a cadet in the Garden military academy of Balamb. A lone wolf by the standards of others, Squall's relentless drive to become the best leads him into SeeD, an elite mercenary unit. His final test as a graduating cadet of SeeD is to settle the growing hostilities between the neighboring countries of Galbadia and Dollet. What was already a confusing set of events takes a turn for the worst when Galbadia begins its invasion on the rest of the world. For Squall, the turmoil of the world around him is nothing compared to the turmoil inside of him; his encounter with a free-spirited young woman named Rinoa Heartilly has turned his well-ordered universe upside down. As an intense man who thrives in the regimented discipline of the military academy, Squall finds Rinoa's carefree attitude fascinating. Yet there is no time to ponder these thoughts, for Galbadia's irrational hostility has been linked to a sorceress named Edea, a powerful magic user. The job of dealing with this new threat has fallen to Squall and the rest of SeeD. Focused on this new task, they can only ponder what the future will hold."

Tell me whats wrong with that storyline?
They are both great games, I think FF8 is underrated if anything. No one seems to like it, and all everyone talks about FF7. Im going to play FF2-10 over again. Now lets see... Which one was 2.. goddamn it.. was two the one where you become a paladin like half way through the game?? or was that 4? damn I forget these things...
Ill tell you which one I think is the best in like two weeks, I can probably beat them all within that time.

Well it is confusing yes, but it isnt unexplained. If you actually play close attention to the story, do all the things such as go to the Shinra Mansion Basement in Disk 3 and get the special clip of cloud and zacks history the story makes very good sense.Originally Posted by St. Elmdor
i am not calling you dumb at all, but the story does make a lot of sense and it is one of the best stories i have ever read/played.
And sephiroth being shit? It is a subjective opinion, but let me state whats cool about him.
-Awesome clothes with cool silver/long hair.
-Cool Sword,the huge masamune.
-Great story about sephiroth and his journey to his developed personality.
-Cool idea to destroy the world and become powerful. See, when the planet in FF7 gets hurt, it gathers energy to that point to heal itself (this energy is the life-energy of the planet). So Sephiroth plans to use a forbidden Black Materia to summon a meteor to injure the earth so much it's existence is in jeopardy, and at the centre of that energy will be Sephiroth, to claim the energy.

My favourite is definately Final Fantasy VI. Now if there's a FF that should be remade, VI is it.
Uhhh.... come on, go play Vagrant Story. THAT's a nice storyline. Or FF Tactics. Or Tactics Ogre (meh, I haven't started that one yet, it consume a lot of time, but it's worth it)
So, FF7. Heros start off on some simple mission which then turns into the typical save the universe type shit. Sephiroth, cool? Quoting St. Elmdor: "Sephiroth is a fag!" ... Well, not really, but he ain't nothing special. "Whoo, I'm actually of a superior race! Now let's go destroy the world!" He does go insane when he finds out that he's an abomination, but that's that. That's personality development? Seen this "powerful soldier gone out of control" stuff lots of times.
Now. FFT short recap.
Ehh... on second thought, no. It's far too long.
Alright: it's a story of the Lion War, where a capable man emerges as king, but in reality, this was only possible due to a small mercenary group, that unveiled the secret of the Zodiac Stones, and defeated the plans of the Church of Galbados (name?).
Vagrant Story: Chasing after a cultist, you learn that he intends to awaken ancient power within the city Le Monde. It's the power of the Gran Grimoire, the secrets of the universe left behind by the Cult of Mllenkamp. On the cultist Sydney's tail are the Crimson Blades, lead by Guildenstern. Into the fray comes a freelance bounty-hunter too, Rosencrantz.
After quite some time, it is revealed that the city itself is the Gran Grimoire, awakening dark power within everyone who enters, this is the reason for Ashley's (the protagonist) strange visions. Also, Sydney's intentions are to grant this power to a man who would not try to use it, and this is you, one without bonds, one without a past. Guildenstern succeeds in unlocking the secret first, and awakens the dark power. You kill him, and inherit the power. After that, you become the Vagrant, roaming the country and setting things the way they should be. And AFTER that... you're an outcast, the guardian of this power.
Of course there's more to the story, but my hands are starting to rot away from all this typing, and it would've taken ten times as much space to summarize the plot nicely.
(off topic) Actually i was wanting to play that, where can i download it?Originally Posted by pkt-zer0

Yes, this is the whole "Sephiroth is so cool" craziness, in a nuthshell. "Destroying the whole world to become powerful" is quite a lame thing to start with... it has been used so many times, and is getting boring.Originally Posted by pkt-zer0
i think its a toss up between FF 7 and 3 as for best of its series. FF7 showed improvements over all previous FF games in every single way. its still a classic and will probably never be forgotten. FF3 had a great story, gameplay...music. i loved it and its cast of characters. even if it does have outdated sounds and graphics, i still hold it high up there with the best of'em.
Is this FF3, or FF6, the one with Kefka, Terra/Tina and those guys? Because I don't know about 3, never played it, but if it's a classic, I definitely will.Originally Posted by .:][AngeluS][:.

wasnt 6 just a remake of 3? and i also think 5 was a remake of 2(not to sure of that 1, but pretty sure of 3 & 6)

Nope, it's pretty crazy, actually.
There are the FF games for NES and SNES, numbered 1 to 6.
2, 3 and 5 didn't get released outside of Japan, so the rest got re-numbered when they were translated to english. Also, the FF4 english version was made off the easymode game, the original is harder. Not to mention that the translation sucks. It sounds normal when you read it as a word-by-word translation of japanese, and re-translate it into proper english. And the Atma weapon. I'm guessing it stems from Arutema, that would probably be the japanese pronunciation or Ultima. And that would make sense, too.
So, what I'm saying is FF2 = FF4 and FF3 = FF6 in Japan.
i see.
-thanks
