True RPG'ers know that most FF's are not that great.

Yes that's why they made around 20 something final fantasy games. because they suck *sarcasm off*

The only ones that sucked to me are "FForigins","FFTactics", "FF11", and The one's on game boy. All the others are good.

So they are going to be showing Advent Children at the party. Does this mean that it is coming out soon? (I havn't been keeping up with it) When is it supposed to hit the U.S.A.

I think the fact that the FF series is the most hotly contested RPG series' in existance proves that there's something to it. I doubt a series that "isn't all that great" would get so much attention from gamers world-wide, nor would it have such a huge legion of devoted fans.

I play the "original" style paper&dice games, is that true RPG enough? But I can still enjoy FF-games, so they can't be that bad...

An FF7 remake would be okay for me, but it seems they just won't make it and that's it. No need to argue over it.

Yeah, it'll come out soon enough... September 14th, to be exact.

I'm wondering if Square-Enix's insistance that the tech demo was nothing more then that wasn't them trying to pull the wool over fans eyes about the possibility of an FF7 remake. I may be wrong, but I think S-E doth protest too much, y'know what I mean?

the same thing happend with the FFVIII Tech Demo... just to a lesser extent because you know FFVIII was not very old at the time... and not as many people saw logic in remaking FFVIII....

Who knows though they might just spend 80-500 Million on remaking FFVII...

Square-Enix spends a hell of alot on there big name games.

Don't take it the wrong way... I was just replying to someones notion Square makes the Best RPG's and paticulary the FF series..... Great Series for casual RPG fans sure... HardCore RPG fans... It's Ok, but not the best ever.

They wouldn't be doing this whole FF7 compilation thing in the first place if people didnt want more FF7.
My point of view is that they wouldn't be making these shitloads of remakes of FF7 if they could make anything else that would guarantee tons of money. They're just playing it safe by depending on the huge FF7 fanbase. I'd also like to point it out that FF7 has been around for quite some time, with a great demand for a sequel/remake, so they could've done one already, if they wanted to.
FF12 should be quite good, it has a good team working on it (FFTactics, Tactics Ogre, Vagrant Story).
As for the other FF games... some of them are not that great, and they're definitely not that much of a RPG, in the exact sense of the word. However, they have great story, and fun battle systems (...sometimes), they have evolved into a different species, RPGs with anime feeling. It's all good, just don't try to compare FF to Fallout...
